This week-end, we celebrate the fourth and final Sunday of

Advent. The Readings of all the four Sundays of Advent
were chosen to help us understand the historical and
spiritual nature of the celebration of Christmas.
Since we are all caught up with the commercial and
external aspects of the Christmas Celebrations, we need to
focus consciously on Gods Plan of Salvation and how we
need to respond to His Plan and Call for repentance and
accepting His Will.
The Readings this week-end should help us to deepen our
faith in God, for God so loved the world, that He sent His
Only Son, that whoever believeth in Him, will have Eternal
Life. He worked this out, by sending Him first into the
womb of Mary, and thus He established the human aspect
of Christs Nature. Jesus, therefore is one of us. His name is
Emmanuel, which literally means God-with-us, in Hebrew.
In the Letter to the Hebrews, we are reminded that doing
Gods will is the real source of Joy and Peace in our lives.
God has given us the gift of Freedom. However, if we accept
to follow His will, then only we will be fully happy in this
world.
In the Gospel, our Blessed Mother accepts Gods Will in her
Life. She thus became the most Blessed among mankind.
Let us seek the will of God and feel fulfilled in our lives.
Jingle bells, lights, presents and beautiful songs and hymns
cannot bring us the sheer joy that awaits those who seek
and do Gods Will. God bless us all.

BEHOLD I COME.

TO DO YOUR WILL.

Saint Peter Canisius

(1521-1597)

Patron Saint of Germany

Feast Day December 21
A renown and popular preacher, St. Peters
untiring efforts are an apt example for those
involved in the renewal of the Church or the
growth of moral consciousness in business or
government. He is regarded as one of the
creators of the Catholic press, and can easily
be a model for the Christian author or
journalist. Teachers can see in his life a
passion for the transmission of truth.
Whether we have much to give, as St. Peter
did, or whether we have only a little to give,
as did the poor widow in the Gospel, the
important thing is to give our all. It is in this
way that Peter is so exemplary for Christians
in an age of rapid change when we are called
to be in the world but not of the world.

FEAST DAY OF THE HOLY FAMILY

December 27 is the Feast of the Holy Family. We
will offer all our Masses for the Families of our
Parish.
Blessed Mother Theresa
Pope Francis has announced to the world that Blessed
Mother Theresa of Kolkota(Calcutta) will be declared a

The Fourth Sunday of Advent shows Elizabeth and

her unborn son, John, reacting to the nearness of the
unborn Christ. We know that
Elizabeth immediately understood that Mary was
pregnant with the Lord, because the Gospel says she
was filled with the Holy Spirit.
But how could the fetal John
understand? How could he
leap for joy while still in the
womb?
If it's true that an unborn baby is not a person with a soul
until it takes its first breath,
as is claimed by many who
believe that abortion is okay,
how could the unborn John
recognize the presence of
the unborn Savior?

The faith to recognize the

presence of Christ -- in the
womb of people's lives, in
the Eucharist, in the humanity of unborn children, etc. -comes from being fully alive
in the Holy Spirit, who was
given to us fully during our
Saturday December 26
baptisms. However, it takes
St. Stephen
a humble willingness to let
Acts 6:8-10;7:54-59
Ps 31:3cd-4,6,8,16,17
God change our minds about
Matthew 10:17-22
what we think is true in order
to be open to God's Spirit
teaching us what is indeed true.
Friday December 25
Christmas Day
Isaiah 52:7-10
Ps 98:1-6
Hebrews 1:1-6
John 1:1-18

John as a fetus was incapable of understanding anything, especially when it happened outside the womb,
yet he leapt for joy. This teaches us that we don't need
to see God working in the world or solving our personal problems before we can leap for joy. We don't have

to
understand
what God is doing, and we don't
even have to know his plans.
The Holy Spirit enlivened the faith of
Elizabeth and John through an act of
grace that depended on Christ's future activity. For us, our faith is enlivened by the grace God provides in
the Sacraments.
The joy that comes from recognizing
the presence of Christ is God's
Christmas gift to us. It's a joy that's
meant to last all year. It's a lifestyle,
not a holiday. It comes from a faith
that appreciates God for working
mercifully in ways that we can see
and ways that we cannot see, because we trust in his goodness.
Even when we suffer or feel sorrow,
we can learn to recognize the presence of Christ.
And then what? Like John, we are
called to be heralds of Christ's presence. How? First by sharing our joy
with others.

Reflect & Discuss:

1. How much is the joy of Christ's
Spirit within you affecting your
outward life?
2. What will you do this Christmas
to become more aware of the
Holy Spirit increasing your faith?
3. Give examples of how the Spirit
of Christmas is really the Holy
Spirit.
4. What activities have helped you
get into the Spirit of Christmas?
How has this affected your preparations for celebrating Christmas as a holy day?
