SPIRITUALITY OF ST.

ELIZABETH OF HUNGARY:
1. The little girl grew up a very religious child with an evident inclination to
prayer and pious observances and small acts of self-mortification. These
religious impulses were undoubtedly strengthened by the sorrowful
experiences of her life.
2. DEDICATION of :
a. CHASTITY, (true charity requires courage, to overcome our fear of
getting our hands dirty so as to help those in need PF)
b. HUMILITY, (saves a man; pride makes one lose his way PF)

c. PATIENCE, (is not the ability to wait; it is a fact of life rather it is the

Before you talk, listen/ Before you read, think/ Before you criticize,
wait/
Before you pray, forgive/ Before you quit, try.
d. the exercise of PRAYER, (capacity to listen to God in silence, not only
the ascent of the mind to God or the ability to solicit favor but ones
being acknowledges the will of God.)

3. SELF-MORTIFICATION (influenced by Conrad)
a. is not poor love of self (narcism/vanity) but a sign that one has
already found the true love and is not insecure.
b. Believing that being UNPOPULAR is not necessary.
4. TENDERNESS:
a. is not the virtue of the weak but rather a sign of strength and a
capacity to love. (Pope Francis)
b. is doing good to those who cannot repay us (Pope Francis) vs
Altruism/Heroism.
5. To eat only food obtained in a way that was certainly right and proper.
6. Spiritual renunciation (submission of the WILL); Material renunciation
(temporal vanities)

The figure of St. Elizabeth of Hungary as an example of how "faith, friendship

with Christ, creates a sense of justice, equality of all, the rights of others and
create love, charity, and from this comes the hope and certainty that we are
loved by Christ and Christ's love is waiting for us. "
