Reflection Paper

1. What surprised me in particular was on the reconstruction of bones, it

seems incredible and yet curious as from small fragments and skeletal
remains are able to reconstruct (about) the full skeleton and besides all the
information you can get just the skeleton: sex, height, age, etc.

2. The topic of natural selection was the one who had more interesting facts
to me, giving examples of why species have certain characteristics (height,
weight, eye position, type of nose, etc.) how they are earned and how
everything has a reason in the system of living beings.

3. The theory of evolution was divulged by the British naturalist Charles

Darwin's book "Origin of the Species". This theory postulates that individuals
with certain hereditary characteristics (in their favor) survive and reproduce,
while others with other inherited characteristics (which do not favor them)
are removed, and the population changes slowly. Darwin believed that
variations appeared and were inherited as a matter of chance. Therefore,
natural selection, through generations will interact with the environment
creating the evolution of species.
The most common example is the giraffe:
If the longest neck is an inherited characteristic, this lineage also will have
long necks and if long-necked animals of this generation have an advantage,
in the next generation there will be more individuals with long necks. Thus,
after many generations, a population of short-necked giraffes will have

become a population of long-necked giraffes, although there will still be

variations in the length of the neck.
