OUTCOMES FROM ALBERTA PROGRAM OF STUDIES

General
Learning
Outcomes:

General Outcome 4.1

Alberta: A Sense of the Land: Students will demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of how
elements of physical geography, climate, geology and paleontology are integral to the landscapes and
environment of Alberta.

Specific
Learning
Outcomes:

4.1.4 analyze how Albertans interact with their environment by exploring and reflecting upon the
following questions and issues:
How are natural resources used by Albertans (i.e., agriculture, oil and natural gas, forests, coal)
What are the significant natural resources in Alberta, and where are they located (e.g., mineral
deposits, coal, natural gas and oil, forests)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Students will:
1. Continue to distinguish different natural resources by their characteristics and what makes them different
from each other.
2. Analyze how we use energy resources in our everyday life.

ASSESSMENTS
Observations:

Students are collectively working by themselves or in partners to compete questions out of

their notebooks.
Students are using social talk and not discussing other matter that is not social related

Key Questions:

What are some challenges with the oil sands?

How do you think mining for coal harms our environment?

Products/Performances:

As a class we will go over a couple questions that the students will choose from.
Students workbooks are filled out neatly.
Students are not rushing to finish as it will not do anything but make studying worse for
them.
Encourage students to take their time and to go over each question thoroughly either by
themselves or with their partner.

Continue with the steps from last class:
