History of hype
Williams

Hype Williams is a movie director and

music video director. Hype Williams has a
large interest in color. This was proven
when he used to spray paint his graffiti
tag, this is where he believes he inherited
his love of color.
He was awarded the billboard music video
award for the best director in 1996 and
the Jackson Limo Award for Best Rap
Video of the Year 1996. this was for the
music video busta rhymes woo hah.

Style of hype
William
Fisheye lens: Through out hype Williams work a style that
was used constantly was the fisheye lens. This can be seen
in the music videos gimmie some more, busta rhymes
and the rain. This was very successful however in 2003
there was a drop in production levels meaning no one
wanted the style that he used to be shown in there music
videos. With no business hype Williams had to stop this
style of production and change.
Widescreen shot: this style was where a regular widescreen
ratio shot would be used then a second shot is split and
placed in the upper and lower bars. This style was used by
him in the music videos diamonds on my neck, so sick, my
hood. These music videos where successful so this was a
new signature style he used. In his work he also
incorporated Arial shots and tracking shots.
