Why Strawberry?

Strawberries are growing in many areas of Bangladesh has became very popular.
Strawberry were not grow in large quantities few years break but with gradual increase in
demand for table varieties as well as from processing unit, number of farmers have now
taken up this activity. Some progressive formers should undertaken strawberry
processing as a measure of forward integration with assured supply of good quality.
Strawberries, quality of products would be very good and the competitive edge would
also go up.

History

Strawberries have grown wild for millennia in temperature regions throughout the world.
They began being cultivated sometime before the Christian era and were highly prized by
many ancient Romans. Yet, after the fall of Rome, they seemed to have lost their favor
until they reemerged in Europe in the Middle Ages. During this time, they began to be
prized again, more so for their medicinal qualities than for their culinary value.
Cultivation techniques of the European varieties, which were much smaller than the
American varieties, were advanced at this time, although the resulting fruits were not as
sweet and fragrant as the strawberries of today, and therefore, they did not readily gain
widespread popularity.
It was not until the 18th century, when coincidence and the workings of Nature's
mysteries coincided, that strawberries developed into the luscious fruit we know them to
be and began to be more widely appreciated. In 1714, a French engineer sent to Chile and
Peru to monitor Spanish activities in these countries "discovered" a strawberry native to
this region that was much larger than those grown in Europe. He brought many samples
back to France, which were subsequently planted. These plants did not originally flourish
well until a natural crossbreeding occurred between this species and a neighboring North
American strawberry variety that was planted nearby in the field. The result was a hybrid
strawberry that was large, juicy and sweet, and one that quickly grew in popularity in
Europe.

The strawberry, like many other perishable fruits at this time, remained a luxury item
only enjoyed by the wealthy until the mid-19th century. Once railways were built and
more rapid means of transportation established, strawberries were able to be shipped
longer distances and were able to be enjoyed by more people. The strawberry is now the
most popular berry fruit in the world. Currently, the United States, Canada, France, Italy,
Japan, Australia and New Zealand are among the largest commercial producers of
strawberries.

Description
The strawberry, a fruit that features a fragrantly sweet flavor, is the most popular type of
berry fruit in the world. While there are more than 600 varieties of strawberries that differ
in flavor, size and texture, one can usually identify a strawberry by its red flesh that has
yellow seeds piercing its surface, and the small, regal, green leafy cap and stem that
adorn its crown. In addition to strawberries that are cultivated, there are also varieties that
grow wild. These are much smaller in size, but feature a more intense flavor
Product:
Fruits are available only during 4-5 months every year & they are perishable. But with
advent of preservation techniques it is possible to ensure them even during off season.
There are many methods like dehydration preparation of pulp & so one. This process is
considers of manufacture of strawberry.

Market potential:
Strawberries are likely by many but till 8-10 years back, they were not easily available
and hence were very costly. But the modernization of agriculture many crops and fruits
are grown at many new location. Strawberry is one such fruits. Strawberry processing is
taking roots by many farmers. The manufacturing process is not complex and lf some
strawberry they will be profited. Competition in this sector is increasing slowly and new
entrant offer quality product at competitive rates.

Manufacturing Process:

The process of manufacturing is standardized and easy to implement. Fully grow and
matured strawberries are washing, cleaned grated and then peeled. Subsequently, juice is
extracted and filtering to remove seeds. We also can use it for preparing face wash, juice,
sweats and some other processing.

Types of strawberry:

All strawberry varieties are one of three types: the June-bearing, the ever bearing
or the day-neutral. The difference between the types is the time during the
growing season the plants produce fruit. The June-bearing varieties flourish in the
spring, peak strawberry season, and produce one crop. Ever bearing plants yield
fruit several times, usually at the beginning and the end of the growing season.
The day-neutral varieties promise an ongoing crop throughout the summer
months as long as the weather is not too hot

There are 600 verities of strawberry of strawberry is produce all over the world. Now a
day in Bangladesh there are three types of strawberry being cultivated.

The pioneer of strawberry cultivation in Bangladesh Professor Dr. M Monzur Hossain

inaugurated

Professor Dr. Manzur Hossain said that the first batch of plant from Japan failed to give
any result. With the experience of this failure he used tissue culture from somoclonol
variation and successfully prepare nine types of plant. Among the nine types of plant he
concentrated his research on three types of strawberry plant and he become successful.
He finally strives on Rabi-3 which is catering to the weather of Bangladesh.

In-Depth Nutritional Profile:

In addition to the nutrients highlighted in our ratings chart, an in-depth nutritional profile
for Strawberries is also available. This profile includes information on a full array of
nutrients, including carbohydrates, sugar, soluble and insoluble fiber, sodium, vitamins,
minerals, fatty acids, amino acids and more.

Introduction to Food Rating System Chart

In order to better help you identify foods that feature a high concentration of nutrients for
the calories they contain, we created a Food Rating System. This system allows us to
highlight the foods that are especially rich in particular nutrients. The following chart
shows the nutrients for which this food is either an excellent, very good, or good source
(below the chart you will find a table that explains these qualifications). If a nutrient is
not listed in the chart, it does not necessarily mean that the food doesn't contain it. It
simply means that the nutrient is not provided in a sufficient amount or concentration to
meet our rating criteria. (To view this food's in-depth nutritional profile that includes
values for dozens of nutrients - not just the ones rated as excellent, very good, or good -
please use the link below the chart.) To read this chart accurately, you'll need to glance up
in the top left corner where you will find the name of the food and the serving size we
used to calculate the food's nutrient composition. This serving size will tell you how
much of the food you need to eat to obtain the amount of nutrients found in the chart.
Now, returning to the chart itself, you can look next to the nutrient name in order to find
the nutrient amount it offers, the percent Daily Value (DV%) that this amount represents,
the nutrient density that we calculated for this food and nutrient, and the rating we
established in our rating system. For most of our nutrient ratings, we adopted the
government standards for food labeling that are found in the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration's "Reference Values for Nutrition Labeling

Potentiality of Bangladesh:
The land and weather is suitable for cultivate strawberry in Bangladesh. The cost of
land is also cheep. Financial support by government and NGO is also contributed to
develop it. There is a lot of land where formed can not cultivate we can use this land.
If we cultivate more than 25000 after and produce about1,30,000 tones of
strawberry then we can emptor it in the foreign market and can get profit in a large
