Additional comments: Marvea has a strong knowledge of the content area. She utilizes proximity to her advantage when working with students
as well as being personable and precise when offering assistance. She asks the right questions when assisting students, allowing them to figure
things out for themselves rather than simply providing them with a solution. Ms. Johnson initially expressed to me her nervousness in working
with students for the first time at the high school level, but neither myself nor my students noticed it at any time during her field experience.
She exhibited full composure at all times and did a great job with the Drawing and Painting class. I feel her demeanor is well suited to the high
school level.
I would suggest learning student names as quickly as possible. This helps to facilitate relationship building at this level. When teaching at any
level, materials prep are extremely important. Marveas schedule (and mine) wasnt able to accommodate for very much of this. I feel bad she
wasnt able to have many opportunities to practice the organizational skills needed for multiple preps, but Im sure shell do fine with this.
There were a couple of transitions during the happy place lesson that were not entirely fluid and wait times could be longer, but even veteran
teachers have issues with both of these at times.
I fully enjoyed having Marvea as a field experience student and I know my students did as well.
