The Emory & Henry football team fell to Guilford College on Saturday 41 to
30. The wasps fought hard finishing with 339 passing yards and 137 rushing yards
on the day. The leaders on the team consisted of Kevin Saxton who threw for 339
yards and two touchdowns, Chris Thompson who finished the game with 74 yards
and a touchdown and Tyree Ward who caught 3 passes for 72 yards and a
touchdown. The Wasps end the season with an overall record of 6-4 on the regular
season and 4-2 in the conference.
The Wasps basketball team lost a hard fought battle to Covenant Saturday
afternoon 73 to 68 at Bob Johnson court. The game was intense the entire day with
the largest lead for both teams being a seven point difference. Despite the loss the
Wasps were led by junior guard Ryan Gravely who finished with a game high 20
points, junior forward Brandon Self who had 11 points and six rebounds, Alic Wynn
who had 6 points and 11 rebounds and freshman forward Aaron Ferguson who
added eight points on Saturday in the loss. The Wasps will travel to Buena Vista,
Virginia to play against Southern Virginia on Tuesday November 17 at 7 p.m.
Also in basketball the Emory & Henry Womens basketball team defeated
Sewanee University on Saturday 71 to 64. The Wasps dominated the majority of the
game with their highest lead extending to 19 after halftime. The Wasps also
dominated statistically as having the highest number of rebounds (48), turnovers
(23) and points in the paint (38) to name a few. The leaders for the Wasps in the win
were Tamara Brewster who finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds, Megan Jacoby
who had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists, senior forward Karina Farr who added
10 points along with being five for seven shooting and freshman guards Hannah Cox
and Taylor Blevins who finished with nine and eight points with six rebounds apiece.
The Wasps look to continue their success as they travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to
face Meredith College on Tuesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
In other news the Emory & Henry swimming team swept Converse and Sweet
Briar in a double dual Saturday at the King Center. In addition to their success on
Saturday the Wasps won 10 of the 11 events, while breaking some of Emory &
Henrys records in swimming as well. Some of the leaders in the successful victory
included sophomore Marina Moore, Junior Michaela Nolte, freshman Claire Goodrum
and freshman Adaira Brewer who all posted an incredible time of 2:08.70 to win by
as much as 7 seconds. Other impact performers in the win consisted of sophomore
Mackenzie Lingle, senior Nicole Powell, sophomore Brianna Chessock, sophomore
Holly Roth, senior Taylor Guardalabene and sophomore Kelsey Jones who were
extremely successful Saturday placing high and breaking school records as well. The

swim teams next meet will be at home in a double dual against Guilford College
and Ferrum College.
Finally, The Intermont Equestrian IDA team was extremely successful on
Sunday by winning back to back victories, while recording a perfect score for the
second show in a row. The impact performers for the Intermont Equestrian team
were Junior Nick Martino who claimed third place in the first level, Senior Karissa
Donohue who won first place in the Upper training level, Senior Morgan
Sollenberger finished fifth as the only individual rider, Sophomore Eli Worth Jones
was second in the lower training level and junior Taylor Carrol finished second
overall in the introductory level. The Emory & Henry College Wasps will close out
the fall portion of the dressage season when they host a show next Saturday at the
Emory & Henry College Equestrian center on exit 10.
