Objective- During this period the students will read a Power Point presentation about the life of
Ruby Bridges. By the end of the lesson the students will have a deeper understanding of the
integration of the school system in the American south, specifically in New Orleans in the year
1960.
Procedures- During this lesson the students will take turns reading slides from the Power Point,
after each slide we will have a brief discussion of the slides contents, during which time the
students will be able to voice their opinion about what they have just read. The student who has
just read will then select who goes next by passing them a ball.
Materials:
-Power Point
-Printed handout of the slides for each student
-Ball
Evaluation- The evaluation will be based on oral participation throughout the lesson, including
both the reading of the slides and the subsequent responses.
