Reflection M. Lesson 1

Height Taller & Shorter

At the first, I played a song that compare the heights (taller and shorter) to introduce the
lesson. Then I made comparison between Me and other random kids, to show them that Me is
taller, and the other kids shorter. Most of them were engaged and shouted when I asked them
whos taller: (You/Ms. Budoor) ... and whos shorter: (the kid name).
Then I choose 2 kids which were quite close in their height and asked them whos shorter
and whos taller. Kids started to shout out, some of them Zayed and others said Mustafa, they
were not sure. The I asked them, who can we be sure about the answer? After a quick discuss,
we reached that we have to measure and the stood beside the wall, then measure them using
same size of pencils. After we finish, we wrote number of pencils they have got and wrote them
on the board. Kids realized that the small number was the shorter (Zayed), and the bigger
number was taller (Mustafa). The kids were so interested in this activity and they all were excited
to know whos shorter and taller.
Then they returned to their groups, and did the activity which was a worksheet have
pictures of different objects and they had to measure these pictures using small cubes. They
have to see how many cubes goes to each one and write them down, then decide which was the
shortest one, and which in the tallest. This activity took time while they were counting the cubes.
While I was moving around and help them, the time has finish although they still have to
do one more activity. Which is measuring using different unit from the basket (Look at the closing
section in the lesson plan). I talked to their MST that they could do it at home or next class, but
she said it is okay to stop oat that point, they have got the main idea for the concept.
I am so worried about the timing. The kids are so noisy, and keep complaining all the
time, and dont listen to me even if I remind them to disciplines or even if I apply it for some one,
there were no effective response.
