T/e Dual
Everyone

Multi-slice technology is becoming the universal CT scanning

technology.
From experience gained in the development of matrix and
dual detector CT systems, GE Medical Systems now provides
you access to the many advantages of this new technology:
greater speed, better resolution and extended coverage.
Designed through Six Sigma quality methodology, CT/e Dual
benefits from General Electric's latest innovations, and allows
you to increase productivity, optimize patient flows and above
all allows access to a large number of advanced clinical appli-
cations. CT/e Dual therefore offers to everyone unrivaled
multi-functionality, image quality and reliability.

The strength of multi-slice technology

Collimation

With a single-slice CT scanner, increasing the pitch leads to

a modification of image quality. With CT/e Dual, everything
is different! Thanks to its dual detector and its patented
reconstruction algorithms, GE Medical Systems has been
able to determine the "ideal" pitch depending on whether
the priority is resolution or speed.

Ultimate technol
and its proven experience. The result:
perfectly consistent technological choices
throughout the imaging chain.
While most of these technologies have
been developed with the aim of obtaining
exceptional image quality, they all
contribute significantly to the reduction
in dose to the patient.

HiLight detector:
The reference in solid-state detectors
GE Medical Systems' supremacy in the field of solid-state detectors
is acknowledged throughout the world: its HiLight detector already
provides superior image quality with notable dose reduction.
This is due to an exceptional absorption factor (99% at 120 kVp)
and an outstanding scintillation efficiency. In 1998, GE Medical
Systems innovation led to the launch of the matrix-based detector.
CT/e Dual combines performance and complete mastery of multi-
slice technology.

BeamTracking:
improved image quality
and dose reduction
BeamTracking is a unique feature from GE
Medical Systems that guarantees real-time
focus stability. A dynamic collimator perma-
nently checks the centering of the X-ray

AutomA:
optimal image quality
The absorption coefficient of X-rays varies for different tissues;
a constant tube current may be too high or too low.
AutomA adapts current to the absorption coefficient for each slice.
Signal/Noise ratio increases and the dose is reduced.

A single scout view provides

attenuation profiles for
Constant image quality each rotation and allows
the necessary current to be
calculated. Required mA is
automatically applied to the
Z-axis for each rotation.

AAR/ANR: exclusive algorithms

to reduce artefacts Greater
attenuation
AAR (Advanced Artefact Reduction) enables linear artefacts of off-axis
to be reduced at shoulder and pelvis level, and also reduces rays with the
artefacts caused by the presence of metallic objects. Even bowtie filter
immobilized patients can be examined with their arms in the
field of view.
ANR (Advanced Noise Reduction) is a reconstruction
algorithm providing selective filtering of noise present
in the image without any decrease in spatial resolution. 90 deg

Bowtie Filter:
further dose reduction
logy Bowtie filter attenuates off-axis rays in order to
maintain a more uniform X-ray field at the detector
whatever the position of the beam through the
patient. The bowtie filter minimizes surface dose
by up to 50% and reduces X-ray scattering effects.
