Abstract
This is a tribute to my grandma: A great mom and grandmother, genuine woman and my
hero. Throughout my life she is a generous person, my teacher, has been through difficult
times. These are the reasons why she is my role model.

1. Introduction
If you always do what you have always done then you always get what you have always
got. Is a quote my grandma always tells me. This quotes motivates me to work hard on
everything that I do in life. This is a tribute to my grandma who is my role model, my
teacher and my rock. I will discuss how my grandma is a generous person, how she
handled difficulties in her life and why she is my role model.
2. My grandma is a generous person
My grandmother displays a true definition of generosity. She puts her three daughters and
her 9 grandchildren before herself. Ever since I could remember my grandma has always
been there to help anyone in our family out with whatever they need. She has always
been there to make sure that everyone is okay. Whether it was someone was hurt
physically, mentally or emotionally. She was there. If someone needed spending money
she would help him or her out. My aunt has a disability, with no job and my grandma
bought her a townhome and helps her with the financials of taking care of my aunts
children. My grandma would do anything for any one of us. She is an umbrella and
everyone is under her. My grandmothers everyday generous actions have taught me to
remember to always be generous and always have a caring heart. My grandma's life is
indeed an example of the true meaning of generosity!
3. She is a great teacher.
The lessons that I have learned from my grandma have shaped me into the young lady I
am today. My grandma has taught me good morals. Some the morals she has taught me
are honesty and responsibility. She has taught me everything that I need to know about
how to be a lady. She has taught me what to do in public, what not to do in public. Has

taught me my manners, saying please and thank you, how to excuse oneself from the
dinner table and why its important to say yes sir and no sir. My grandmother also taught
me that family is first. She taught me how to dress confident. She has taught me how to
believe in my faith and to be independent. Beingstrongandindependentdoesntmean

visitmygrandmabecauseshelivesdownthestreetfrommyhouse.Becausemygrandma
livessoclose,Ihavebeenconstantlylearningnewvaluablelessonsfrommygrandma.
Mygrandmaisaveryintelligentwomanandmakesmewanttolearnmoreknowledge
everyday.Herintelligenceisverymotivating.Iwanttobeassmartasherandoneday
teachmychildrenandgrandchildrenthelessonsIhavelearnedfromher.
4. She experienced many difficulties.
Despite the hard times my grandma has been through she does not let those times impact
her. These times have only made her stronger. January 2nd, 2013 my papa passed away.
He had a very bad heart and was a smoker in the past. He has been sick for years but at
the time of his passing he was very weak. He was everything to my grandma. They have
been together since a young age of twelve and thirteen years old. Through this hard time
my grandma was very weak but would not show it. She tried her best to put on a strong
face for all of us. She has inspired me to be strong throughout the hard times. During this
time I was weak as well, but I put on a strong face for my grandma.

My grandma has other difficulties that she faces on a daily basis. Two of my cousins and
aunt have a disability and my grandma has to take care of them. She pays for my aunts
townhome and all her living essentials including for her four children. Most grandparents
my grandmas age are retired or about to retire, but my grandmother still has a full time
job. My grandma is a mortician. She has been around this profession her whole life
because she grew up in a funeral home. She always is working to make money to support
my aunt and her kids as well as herself. She is constantly very busy which is hard for a
woman her age. She is always on the go. I think that is very hard for a grandma. She
needs to relax and take time for herself. I think that what got my grandma through her
each and every day struggle is her faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he
who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (New Revised Standard Version Bible, 1 John
5:5, pg. 149) This is a quote my grandma lives by. She believes that as long as she has
faith in the Lord, he will carry her through and give her the strength to survive. One day
when I face very hard difficulties like my grandmother. I will know as long as I trust in
my faith I will concur all.
5. She is my role model.
My grandmother has done many amazing things and is my role model . She has taught me
how to be strong women even when times get tough. She has taught me to love
unconditionally. My grandmother has taught me how to be hard working. Recently my
grandma told me You have to live each and every day that accomplishes a goal that your
future self will thank you for. Everything she has taught me throughout my life has truly
made me who I am today. She has taught me that no matter what BE YOURSELF. This

standupforwhatIbelieve in. Without my grandma I would know half of the stuff
because of my mother but my grandma just has a certain way of getting to people. She
has so much intelligent knowledge. Grandma is so smart. If she does not know the
answer to something she will figure it out, my sister recently said about my grandma.
When she speaks to you it gets you thinking. I wish that I can be half of the person my
grandma is.
6. Conclusion
This essay was about my grandmas story and explained only just a few of the many
reasons why she is my hero. She is a generous person, my teacher, has been through
difficult times that I could not imagine going through, and is my role model. I try to be
like my grandma each and everyday. My grandma has been a great and positive influence
in my life, and I cannot imagine my life not having the close relationship that my
grandmother and I share, it is truly a blessing.
