Target Goal or Skill:

With the use of a graphic organizer, the students will develop a well written
paragraph with a clear topic.

Why do we write? How is your style of writing influenced by


purpose? What is the importance of sharing?

With the use of a graphic organizer can students develop clear, organized
writings?
- Students will write their thoughts in a graphic organizer
- Students will write paragraphs that stay on topic
Formative Assessment: Students will turn in their graphic organizers at the
end of each class to be checked over by teacher.

First class session- Mini Lesson on graphic organizers


- Discuss what a graphic organizer is and model how it is used on a
familiar text
- Allow students to follow along with you as you write on projected
graphic organizer
- Give students their prompt and have them write all their ideas about
the topic
Second Class session
- Revisit purpose of mini lesson
- Have students organize their information that they put into graphic

organizers
Do research to expand their thoughts if necessary

Closure:

Third Class- Put information into paragraph form


- Peer edits

- Create final draft of paragraph
