There are many ways to fund tourism. There are many reasons why
tourism should be funded publically. Tourism adds a $6.3 billion direct
economic impact, with the indirect economic impact adding another $1.8
billion (Frequently Asked Questions). Not only that, but tourism makes up
for more than half of the jobs along the Grand Strand (Frequently Asked
Questions). Tourism is important, because it generates jobs. It makes up for a
large amount of financial income that is inquired impacting our economy.
Tourism is known for generating jobs. There are many different jobs
that can be created from tourism in and even out of the tourism industry.
Tourism impacts jobs such as restaurants, golf courses, and hotels
(Frequently Asked Questions). Attractions as well as other places such as
Retail outlets, grocery stores, entertainment venues and transportation
providers are hugely impacted as well (Frequently Asked Questions). Some
jobs that are created outside of the tourism are extremely important to the
industries economy. Even though a business may not think of itself as
benefitting from tourism, the indirect benefits of tourism impact nearly every
business along the Grand Strand (Frequently Asked Questions). It is crucial
for tourism to be supported as a community, because Ultimately, these

tourism-dependent businesses need other service which is paid for in part by

tourist dollars (Frequently Asked Questions).
Tourism accounts for a large amount of financial income. Tourism adds

tourist spending money the industry would be far to difficult to be able to
fund and support. The money invested into our local economy by tourists
circulates throughout our economy several times over, providing an ongoing
economic impact that would disappear entirely without tourism (Frequently
Asked Questions). Tourism keeps the industry smooth and easier to run,
because the steady flow of currency. Transaction taxes collected from
tourists include sales tax, hospitality fees, fuel tax, accommodations tax and
education tax (Frequently Asked Questions). There are other ways and
things that bring in financial income. Tourism is continuing to expand and
many new people are starting to become locals. Certain tourists move to the
community and relocate their homes there. There are others that go and
settle there for their retirement or to invest in properties or second home.
Funding tourism publically or privately can be extremely tough. There
are places and programs that will fund tourism such as Governments,
international donors, and multilateral development organizations
(International Finance Corporation, World Bank, regional development banks,
etc.), where funds come, at least initially, from public sources (Phillips, Jim,
and Jamie Faulkner). It is very important to get promoted as a tourist

destination. Although the federal government and many states and localities
promote tourism, there is a dearth of empirical evidence on the value of
tourism advertising and uncertainty about the credibility of studies of
tourism promotion (Platzer, Michaela D). Investing in private funding can
sometimes be the longest and most time consuming way of promotion

Being able to promote tourism is extremely important in the aspects of
funding it publically and privately. The overall impact it has on a community
is astonishing. The importance of funding tourism publically or privately has
a huge impact on its promotion. Without the proper funds, promotion will not
be able to happen making the industry harder to expand. No promotion
means that the tourist are less if not completely unaware of certain
businesses or attraction. Tourism will continue to grow and expand
developing more jobs in and out of the industry. As more jobs are created,
more money will be inquired boosting our economy, giving us more
expansion of areas, which leads to the generation of more jobs. Tourism is
and will continue to grow more as time progresses. There is no doubt that

tourism hugely impacts our economys jobs, financial income, and growth
and expansion of more areas.
