POLLEN

A-6-6

QUESTION
If passion flowers, roses, and gerbera daisies all
contain pollen which plant will have the most amount
of pollen. Also, if observed which plant will attract the
most amount of bees.

HYPOTHESIS
If passion flowers, roses, and gerbera daisies have
pollen. The flowering plant that will produce the most
amount of pollen would be the roses because, of the
amount of pollen it contains inside of the flower.

RATIONAL
The results of the experiment could benefit my
society by, each person who has an allergy to pollen
could know which flowering plants to stay away from.
Also, the flower that attracts the most amount of bees,
show which flowers have the most amount of pollen,
since bees pollenate.

ABSTRACT

If Passion Flowers, Roses, and Gerbera Daisies contain

pollen which flower will produce the most amount of
pollen. Also, which of the three flowering plants will
attract the most amount of bees. The rose will produce
the most and of pollen and will attract the most amount
of bees because, it has pollen both in and outside of
the flower. The results of the experiment will help
people with pollen allergies to stay away from a certain
flower. The results of my experiment showed that the
rose produced the most amount of pollen and attracted
the most amount of bees. My hypothesis was correct
and that the flower that produced the most amount of
pollen was the rose.

PROCEDURE
http://passionforfreshideas.com/

1. Gather all your materials

2. Hang the rope up with the 2 thumbtacks
3. Take the paper clips and hand each flower on the rope
4. Put the paper plates under the flowers and try to shake out the pollen from
the flower on to the paper plate
5. Weigh and count the amount of pollen from each plant
6. Repeat steps 1-5 3 times
7.

put the plants out side

8. Observe the amount of bees that go to each plant

9. Use the data from the flowers to determine the flower that produces the
most amount of pollen and the flower that attracts the most amount of
bees

DATA ANALYSIS
The trends in my data showed me that the rose and the
gerbera daisy in creased their amount of pollen. Also, that the
passion flower in creased and decreased. The averages from the
amount of pollen that each flower produces show that the rose
has the highest average and the gerbera daisy has a the second
highest amount of pollen and the passion flower as the least
average.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, if the passion flower, rose, and gerbera daisy all

produce pollen which plant will contain the most amount of pollen
and attract the most amount of bees. The rose will produce the
most amount of pollen and attract the most amount of bees
because, it has pollen both in the in and outside of the flower. My
hypothesis is correct because, the three trials showed that when
counted the average was 99.3 and, that the data chart shows that
the rose was the only flower that attracted 2 bees. When all the
other flowers only attracted 1 bee . Also that the passion flowers
average was 75 and the gerbera daisy's average was 83 which
means that 2 flowers had a lower average than the rose. There are
many types of flowers that people should stay away from to avoid
triggering allergies. Also, flowers need pollination to create new
seeds. The data here does make sense, and that during this
experiment I improved.
