Lesson Format
1. Objectives
Psychomotor: Students will be able to perform a chest pass, bounce pass, and overhead pass by extending their arms and stepping
towards their target.
Cognitive:
Students will be able to demonstrate the knowledge of when to pass to a teammate or shoot the ball during the 3 vs. 3
activities.
Affective:
Students will demonstrate teamwork and cooperation skills by passing to a partner during different activities
2. Teacher Objective: I will be able to improve my demonstrations and make my transitions to the next activity more efficient.
3. Equipment: Basketball hoops, basketballs, pinnies
4. Protocols
- Make sure the person you are passing to is looking before you pass to them.
- Emphasize that it is important that the person receiving the pass has their hands up and ready so they can catch the pass and provide a
target.
- Make sure the pairs are spread out so they will not run into each other.
-Yell Ball, ball, ball if you see a ball rolling on the floor.
LESSON CONTENT & PROGRESSIONS

Instant Activity:
Students will run a lap on the
outside field and when they reenter the gym, they will have 23 minutes to shoot hoops with
basketballs, hit volleyballs back
and forth to a partner, or jump
rope throughout the gym.

Set Induction:
Good afternoon class! My Name
is Mr. Evan and I will be
teaching you how to pass in
basketball today and then you
will be playing a game of 3 vs.
3. Some of the things I will be
looking for when you are
playing are; performing a chest
pass, bounce pass, and
overhead pass by extending
their arms and stepping
towards their target,
demonstrate the knowledge of
when to pass to a teammate or
shoot the ball during the 3 vs. 3,
and demonstrate teamwork and
cooperation skills by passing to
a partner during different
activities.

Passing activity 1:
Students will be paired up and
they will practice a chest pass,
bounce pass, and overhead
pass. One partner will stand on
the sideline and the other will
stand 10 feet away.

Passing activity 2:
Students will form a group of
three and they will play monkey
in the middle. Students will work
on passing over and around a
defender by using different
types of passes.

There will be six students at
each basketball hoop
throughout the gym. Three
students will form a line on the

Rules:
-Students must stay in bounds.
-Students may not travel
-Students may not double
dribble.
-If team A shoots it and team B
grabs the rebound, they must
take it back past the foul-line.
-After each made basket the
ball goes to the other team.
-Teams must check the ball
before starting.
-If someone is fouled, the
person that was fouled keeps
the ball and teams must check it
back up.
-After a few minutes of play,
teams will rotate courts so they
play new teams.
