Some of the requirements in the former technology plan that have been skilled:
1. Model lesson plans to support State and District curriculum standards were developed,
however they now should be associated with Common Core standards.
2. Arrangement of the Scope and Sequence to the NETS document is progressing for the
new plan
3. California State Technology Survey or the Fullerton School District Technology

Survey completed by schools

4. Project Tomorrows Speak Up Survey is completed by teachers, staff, and students on
an yearly basis
5. Enlarged access to school personnel by parents and the community via email, websites,
and PowerSchool was encouraged
CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.

1. Staff and supervisors are provided a laptop computer for instructional purposes. In
some classrooms the teacher might utilize a desktop computer instead of a laptop.
2. All staffs are provided a Google Apps for Education account for productivity and
collaboration.

1. On student laptops and iPads a variety of applications are available for student
use. The iWork suite with Pages, Keynote, and Numbers is frequently installed, as
are iMovie and iPhoto.
2. Google Apps for Education is available for all students. This provides a means to
access productivity tools online for instruction.

The districts curricular aims emphases upon student learning occurring

along three scopes: from standardized to customized educational content,
inert to active education, and fixed to fluid time and place. School and
District staff gathers, evaluate, and operate data from formative and
summative assessments to make decisions that maintenance and
progress student, school, and district accomplishment.

Fullerton School District staff contributes in PD programs regarding Fair

Use, understanding Copyright Laws, and respect for intellectual property.
For students understanding each area is progressively significant as they
navigate in a internationally linked world. To contribution students with
meeting these needs, Fullerton School District lessons are created
providing students talents necessary to understand the ethical use of
technology; including copyright and fair use, distinguishing lawful from
unlawful downloading and avoiding plagiarism. The resources are
available online and all students grades K-8 participate.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT

1. Summary of the teachers and administrators current technology skills
and needs for professional development.
The chart below is a summary of 20 supervisors and 188 instructors.
This survey and others indicate personal proficiency but research has
shown personal proficiency does not directly relate to professional use
of technology in the classroom. That being said it is still a great guide
for where FSD will focus its staff development and particular certificate
program with emphasis on use of technology in the classroom and
beyond, ultimately expanding access to rich learning opportunities for
students.

2. List of clear goals, measurable objectives and a specific

implementation plans for providing professional development
opportunities based on the needs assessment and the Curriculum
Component goals, benchmarks, and timeline.
The Chief Technology Officer and the Directors of Educational Services
will work with iCoaches to present and prepare model academic
technology lessons within the classroom of each of the school sites.
The iCoaches will also develop skeletal digital content areas on Haiku
for teachers to use and integrate with their daily instruction.
Additionally, successful technology integration strategies will be shared
throughout the district via the existing Technology Certificate program
to further support school sites with 21st century instruction. In addition
teachers will be trained on how to teach and assess the progress on
the district technology matrix as well as the ethical use of technology

and Internet safety.

1. Teachers and staff will receive training before June 2016 on how to teach and
assess the ethical use of technology and Internet safety.
2. 100% of teachers and staff will receive training before June 2017 on how to teach
and assess the ethical use of technology and Internet safety.
INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND
ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA

Infrastructure and Networking

FSD continues to get federal E-Rate dollars to enlarge the capacity of the District
network. These capitals have been used to replace old equipment as well as support the
increasing number of wireless devices.
Existing Internet Access
All schools have a 1 Gig fiber backbone from each site IDF to their respective MDFs.
Each network drop on each campus is a minimum of 100mbps and all wireless devices
are capable of 802.11n communication.
Hardware
Teachers have wireless laptop that they can use in and out of school. At three schools
there is a modified 1:1 program and have access to a laptop during school hours. At two
schools there is a 1:1 program where students have right of entry to their laptops 24/7.
Three schools have programs where students have access to their iPads 24/7. There are
also multiple computer labs and a minimum of 2 computers per classroom. District Office
personal is provided with technology and access as well.
Technical Support
The Districts Technology & Media Services Department presently offers network
troubleshooting and repair services for computers, mobile devices, interactive
whiteboards, document cameras, printers, and projectors. Additionally, technical support
is delivered for the applications used throughout the District including but not limited to:
Haiku LMS, Discovery Streaming, Google EDU, Email, Bi-Tech, Illuminate Ed, ST
Math, Scholastic, and more. See the Funding and Budget section for a list of support staff
positions.
Networking Needed:
Now all classrooms are provided Wi-Fi, but extra access points are needed to provide
saturation. Each classroom needs at minimum 1 access point. Moreover, there is a need to
replace aging switches in the schools IDF and MDF cabinets. With the large numbers of
devices being deployed the 100mbps to classroom is no longer adequate. 1Gbps to

wireless access points and 10Gbps network backbones will be required.

Technical Support Needed:
The School District wants to make available additional support to end-users as more
devices are deployed in the classrooms. As the District moves forward with larger 1:1
iPad deployment additional support staff will be needed to address this need. The
Fullerton School District is evaluating and expanding its technical support options, with
the hiring of a new Chief Technology Officer a proactive multi-tiered approach to
providing technology will include expanded staff at both the district and site as well as
the inclusion of technology mentors and student support teams. In addition all technology
is being evaluated, updated and placed on a three-year replacement schedule to insure
computers, servers, devices and network are constantly being repaired or replaced as
needed
MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT

Describe the process for evaluating the plan's overall progress and impact on
teaching and learning.
1. Who will be responsible?

The Chief Technology Officer is responsible for the timely delivery of requested
technical support.
2. How often Chief Technology Officer will report on the progress of plan goals to

the Technology Advisory Committee, the Cabinet and the Superintendent.

At least once per year the Chief Technology Officer will report on the progress of
plan goals to the Technology Advisory Committee, the Cabinet and the
Superintendent.
Describe the schedule for evaluating the effect of plan implementation, including
a description of the process and frequency of communicating evaluation results
to tech plan stakeholders.
Every three years an outside consultant evaluates the 1:1 Laptop Program and the results
are reported to the Board of Trustees when it is completed. The District is looking to
begin evaluating the 1:1 iOS deployments as part of this as well. This data is also
valuable for planning the use of technology to assist in areas where students are not
meeting District curriculum goals. Various departments within the District Office and at
school sites, including the Coordinator of Assessment and Accountability as well as the
Director and Coordinator of Technology & Media use this information to evaluate, plan
and implement programs targeted at specific areas of weakness.
Information gathered from the analysis of student achievement data will be used to assess
the use of technology in the District. Recommendations of successful practices Fullerton
School District Tech Plan-Revised March 2014 47 will be shared with the Advisory
Committee District Office departments, site administrators, and Technology Reps. The
District created school technology survey, professional development evaluations, and

SpeakUp data will be monitored by the Chief Technology Officer on a yearly basis.
Training, coaching, and mentoring sessions will be logged and sign-in sheets of attendees
will be kept by the leaders doing the training. The Digital Learning Team will use this
data to monitor progress and plan staff development offerings.
