Specific Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to answer the
following question, what can I do to relieve my stress when I start to feel
overwhelmed by it? The students will be able to answer this by going through four
stations all of which contain a technique for dealing with stress and implementing
stress management strategies.
Concomitant Objective: Students will remain physically active while learning
stress management.

Transition: Good morning boys and girls! When I say


go can I have you all stand and place your toes on the
green line. Ready go

Touch the sky. Now lean to the left and now lean
to the right. Bend forward and touch your toes.
Now can I have everyone close their eyes take a
deep breath in through your nose and out through
your mouth. Good, againin through your
noseout through your mouth.
Did you notice a brief feeling of relaxation? Did
you for a second forget all of the homework and
stress you have on your mind?
Today we are going to relieve some of our stress
whether it be from at home or at school we
want to release the tension and release our
stress from our busy lives.

Learnable Piece:
Today you will learn some techniques to use
when you are feeling stressed. There are going to
be different way for you to feel relaxed and not let
the stresses of life get to you. You will be doing
four different techniquesall of which will help

you relieve some stress.

Transition: Number the students off (1-4). Say


When I say GO, you will go to the station that
matches your number. Ready GO!
Directions will be given at stations
Presentation of New Material/Directions:
Students will be numbered off on the line (1-4)
The students will then go to their station number
corresponding to the number in which they were
assigned.
Tell the students that at each station there will be
directions on what to do (yoga, circuit training,
stretching and breathing, and dancing)
Tell the students that they begin when I say GO
and stop when I say FREEZE
Students will begin when I say GO
Have each student stay at their station for 1:00
minutes. Then say FREEZE and have the
students rotate to the next station to start their
next set of tasks.
Once students get through all activities have
students freeze and form a circle around the
instructor.

Directions will be on a piece of paper at each
station describing what the station needs to do.

Possible Modifications:
If students are getting through an activity too
quickly have them go through the list again.
If they are taking longer extend the time.
Lesson Review:
How did the yoga make you feel?
How did the dancing make you feel?
How did the circuit training and getting your heart
rate up make you feel?
How did the deep breathing and stretching make
you feel?
Did you notice you felt a little more relaxed and a
little less stressed?
These are simple techniques that you can use at
home to make dealing with stress a little more
manageable.
