wal mursalin. Wa bad: Brothers and sisters in Islam! Let me congratulate you with the universal salutation of Islam: As Salamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu: May the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you all. Today is the day of Eidul Fitr. Allah subhanahu wa taala has fixed two days for joy and entertainment: Eidul Fitr and Eidul Azha. It is to be remembered that joyous days of Islam are not meant for personal consumption and sensual pleasure; rather their purpose is to sacrifice ones own interest for the benefit of other. Fitrah in this Eid and slaughtering animals in Eidul Azha are two glaring examples of this sacrifice. Brothers and sisters in Islam! We have just passed the month of Ramadan. We have to think whether we have attained the desired result of siyam: that is taqwa or God-fearing. If we can follow all the commandments of Allah and refrain from His prohibitions throughout the year, then we can say that our fasting has been meaningful. But how can we know what are the commandments and prohibitions of Allah? The answer is the Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah. We cannot obey Allahs commandments, unless we thoroughly read the Quran. It is to be mentioned here that the glory of the month of Ramadan is due to the revelation of the Quran in this month. So reverence to this blessed month is incomplete, if we do not implement the Quranic teachings in our practical life. May Allah enable us all to read the holy Quran and follow its commandments in our real life. Amen!
