Teaching Philosophy Statement
I believe that each student is a unique individual that deserves a secure, caring, and stimulating
learning environment. This learning environment fosters maturity in emotional, intellectual,
physical, and social growth. As an educator I will provide support for my students to meet their
fullest potential in all areas of content. I will provide a learning environment that is safe,
supportive of risk taking, and invites sharing and discussion of ideas. There are three elements
that help to create a learning environment that ensures success for all students. First, as the
teacher I will act as a guide and scaffold students throughout their learning experience. Second, I
will allow students to create their own natural curiosity to help direct and take responsibility for
their learning. Lastly, prompting good behavior, respect and understanding for all things and
people, not only within the classroom but outside as well.
The teachers role is to be a guide and make information and knowledge accessible for all
students, at all levels. For students to be able to construct knowledge, they need to be provided
the opportunity to discover themselves as well as all the information that surrounds. Teaching
intent and authenticity will support students in their discovery. I will provide students with hands
on learning with the adequate amount of time and space to use and array of materials that
reinforces the content being implemented. Outside tools will be readily available for all students
to enhance hands on learning and exploration. I am able to fluently work with technology and
other tools to guarantee the success of each of my students.
Throughout my higher education and field experience I possess the capability to teach all
subjects throughout the elementary grades. I have studied and implemented an array of lessons in
different subjects to facilitate the growth of my students as individuals and as a whole. I will
incorporate realia to all of my lessons to create a connection for each student to their daily lives.
Throughout my classroom I will use an array of different assessment tools to include all students
and levels that are present. For example such assessments include: written, oral, individual,
whole class, and project based. By implementing an array of assessments it provides a platform
for all student at different levels to show his or her ability. By providing this platform it fosters
an environment of inclusion for all students.
I will thrive to teach my students to become life long learners and have a forever curiosity for the
abundant information that surrounds them everyday.
