Stockton University Students to Hold Mixer for NJ Student-Run Public Relations Firms
GALLOWAY, NJ, November 23- Stockton Universitys Student-Run Public Relations firm,
StockPRo, will be hosting its first ever Spring Mixer on February 21, 2015. This event will bring
together other New Jersey Student-Run Public Relations firms in an attempt to create
relationships and expand networks.
The Spring Mixer will be held in Stockton Universitys main campus event room from 6 to 9 pm
on Sunday, February 21, 2015. The guest list is set to include those from Rutgers, Rowan,
Monmouth, and Temple Universitys Student-Run PR firms. Attendees are welcome to be
accompanied by one guest. Tickets will be sold at $10 prior to the event and $15 at the door.
One important problem in contemporary PR education is the gap between theory and practice,
said Dr. Ai Zhang, faculty adviser for StockPRo. A crucial mission of the student-run PR firm is
to shrink that gap.
The mixer will allow StockPRos members to apply what they have been learning in the
classroom to the real life experience of planning an event. The event will feature carnival themed
games, a photo booth, silent auction, and various guest speakers.
Brianna Mazzuca, StockPRos Event Coordinator said, This mixer will bring together colleges
from all over the region, and allow them to network, which will create connections that will be
beneficial in the long run.
A percentage of the proceeds from the mixer will be donated to one of StockPRos main clients,
Allies in Caring, a non-profit organization in Hammonton, NJ that helps provide health and
therapy service to low income families. Through the Spring Mixer, StockPRo will spread
awareness about Allies in Caring that will hopefully lead to more donations for the organization.

A Student-Run Public Relations Firm, StockPRo, was founded by Stockton University professor
Dr. Ai Zhang and 12 dedicated Communications Studies majors in September, 2015. The firm
provides PR Internship that can benefit any Stockton student, not just PR or COMM student. As
the name suggests, this is a student-run PR firm. Students are essentially the designer and
initiators of the class. Regardless of one's background, students can practice their skills in
organization management, leadership, team building, speaking and presentation, and conflict
resolution. The firm is divided into teams that include Research and Development, Social Media,

and Clients. It is important for students to understand and embrace the abstract knowledge they
learn in the classroom, as well as equipping themselves with the latest trends and tools in the
industry.
