Competency 007: The teacher understands and

applies principles and strategies for communicating


effectively in varied teaching and learning contexts.
This competency is referring to the interaction between the teacher and
student and how well the teacher reacts and works with all the different
kinds of students, how well the teacher knows the age of the students and
can act accordingly, as well act accordingly for the diverse beliefs and
cultures. This is also how well the teacher explains things so the students
can understand it and not have to ask many questions through any means
whether it be vocal in person or on an email.

Competency 008: The teacher provides appropriate


instruction that actively engages students in the
learning process.
This competency refers to the way the teacher helps the students engage
into the learning process as well as monitor and keep track on how the
students are doing, in other words how fun they can make it for the
students while still making them learn what they need to know for testing,
in lower grades though it applies more to them teaching and monitoring
how good the young students are doing learning the English language.

Competency 011: The teacher understands the


importance of family involvement in childrens
education and knows how to interact and
communicate effectively with parents.
This competency refers to how the teacher interacts with the students
parents or legal guardians on their education process and keeps them up
to date on how the student is doing and gets help on how to fix any
problems that may exist in the learning process, it also refers to the need
for the teacher to try and give assignments that engages the parents in
the learning process with their children.

Competency 012: The teacher enhances professional


knowledge and skills by effectively interacting with
other members of the professional community and

participating in various types of professional


activities.
This competency is referring to how well the teacher interacts with other
members of the staff and administration and how well their relationships
are with them. It also addresses the need to not be worry to ask for help
and use them as resources on skills they have that you do not, but the
main goal of the teacher is to work toward the goals of the school and
make sure that everything they do is benefitting the school in some way
even if it is just going to a school event such as a football game or a peprally to help get the students motivated and be proud of their school.

Competency 013: The teacher understands and


adheres to legal and ethical requirements for
educators and is knowledgeable of the structure of
education in Texas.
This competency refers to the teachers ability to be able to do their job
with all the legal aspects, such as putting in grades as they are made and
not falsifying them, as well as how they can discipline the students legally
and how they are able to treat students with special needs. It also refers
to the way they follow procedure laid down by the administration of the
school as well as by the state.
