Technological Communications

Technology is a highly controversial topic, which has many diferent

viewpoints. One being that technology is changing our language for the better of
society, and another being that it is changing it for the worse. However, some state
that there are multiple adaptations on the subject, which have valid points that
pertain to the individuals opinion. Allow me to enlighten you on the valid points
that show technology is improving our society.
To start out with, text abbreviations have been created in order to shorten our
conversations in order to get our point across quicker. This can be helpful for when
you are in a situation that is an emergency, and have to get the point across quickly
and efficiently. Steven Pinker states, Technology has advanced over time, and as it
has advanced so do we, as we partake in it. In this sentence, he is explaining that
technology hasnt caused us to become illiterate, but to advance as it does. Ray
Williams concludes Pinkers statement as he also states that technology is
advancing along with our communication skills. Although, these individuals state
positive information on this subject, there are other individuals that state otherwise.
Furthermore, as an example to other individuals stating otherwise, the
English language is being downgraded and altered through texting. People who
have used texting bring it to their papers in their place of education, causing them
to use inaccurate grammar through what they are used to during texting. To add on
to this, it causes laziness when creating sentences and also causes sentence
structures to not be applied. As another example, Jonah Lehrer states, We are
turning into robots due to not having enough human interactions with others. This
can be seen due to the fact that everyone owns a smartphone and is only a click
away from the internet. Williams stated that there have been many diferent
research methods in order to almost prove some of these statements. Although,
there are many diferent viewpoints of this subject, none can be completely proven
in order to make these statements facts.
To end with, this highly controversial topic, may have many diferent
viewpoints that cannot be proven. Due to technology constantly changing, we
cannot appropriately address this issue. Technology has created new words in our
dictionary and will continue to add more words. The fact at hand is that even if
technology is altering our language we cannot do anything to stop it. Due to the
fact that old languages die and new languages get created; thus, the modern
language has changed and will continue to change for years to come.
