CLES 2015-2016 Technology Workshop Lesson Plan

Google Play for EDU!

Learning Objectives:
Participants will become familiar with the ISTE technology standards for teachers and students
and how these standards tie to the common core standards.
Participants will discover how to use Google Play for Education to increase student
achievement and ensure differentiation in the classroom.
Participants will learn to use their Google Play for Education account to be able to navigate
the basic features and push out apps for individualized learning.
Participants will collaborate with their grade level to choose and implement new apps into
their own classrooms.

STANDARD 2:
Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments

. Teachers
design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating
contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the

Technology Coaches assist teachers in using
technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing
rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students.

experiences addressing content standards and student technology standards
b. Coach teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning
experiences using a variety of research based, learner-centered instructional strategies and

Workshop Procedure:
1. Introduce the workshop by reinforcing our three main school improvement goals: increase
student achievement, improve classroom management, and ensure differentiation.
2. Have participants take the pre-workshop survey.
3. Pass out the ITSE-T and ITSE-S Standards. Have groups (by grade level) check the standards
that they already implement in their classrooms. Discuss standards that may not be currently
implemented.
4. Distribute presentation slide handout
.
Present the Google Play for Education slide show and
answer any questions that may come up.
5. Have the participants complete the final assessment to have access to Google Play for
Education apps.

6. Participates that passed the final assessment will plan with their peers and decide which apps
to push out for individualized learning.
7. Have participants research additional Google Play for Educations apps and/or extensions that
they can implement into their instruction.
8. With their groups, have participants discuss the apps they chose and how they plan to
implement and provide a means for differentiation within their classrooms.
9. Lastly, have participants take the post-workshop survey.

Evaluation/Assessment
:
Informal Assessment:
Instructor will informally assess participants on their understanding of the basic
features and uses of Google Play for Education by observing the participants as they research and
push out apps.
Formal Assessment
: Participants will complete the pre- and post-workshop survey and final
assessment, results will be analyzed and evaluated by the instructor.
Follow-Up Observations:
Participants will be observed periodically to ensure understanding of the
program with little technical problems.
