Adopt An Element

Components:
1) Atomic Structure: The atomic structure of the element you have chosen must
be hand drawn on your brochure.
2) Reactivity: You must identify the reactivity of the element you have chosen.
3) Uses: Each particular element on the periodic table has different uses. It is
your job to determine what the uses are for your element and how this element
is used in everyday life.
4) Periodic Table Trends: You must identify the freezing points, density, melting
points, electronegativity, ionization energy, electron affinity, atomic radius and
the metallic characteristic trends of the element you have chosen.
5) Interesting Facts: You must identify 2 or more interesting facts. These facts
can be anything you find interesting as long as you have not already
mentioned the fact in a previous component.
6) Creativity: This brochure can be drawn by hand or done with a word
processing program. However, if you choose to complete the brochure in a
word processing program the atomic structure of your element must be hand
drawn. There must also be pictures included in your brochure of the element
and/or something interesting from your element. Three or more pictures must
be included.
Sources: All Internet sources used to find the research or pictures must be cited in APA format.
With your final brochure, a separate reference page must be provided. Wikipedia does not count
as a credible source.
Due Dates/ Checkpoints:
November 11, 2015- Element must be chosen. You should have two or three elements researched
as no one in the class can do the same element.
November 25, 2015- Two of the six components must be completed as this day will be an in
class workday.
December 1, 2015- Final completed brochure is due at the beginning of class.
