Ms. Pearl Lim

Infocomm Development Authority,
Singapore
Ms Lim,
My name is Parag Bhatnagar and I am deeply interested in applying for the IDA Game Science and
Technology Initiative. I feel that my varied experience in graphic design and the visual arts, computer
science and my extensive leadership and administrative experience would put me in good stead for the
position.
Over the past 2 years, I have participated in, won and even facilitated hackathons - a type of event that
requires that a team ideate, build and pitch a prototype the seed that may potentially give birth to the
next start-up. In fact, just this weekend my team and I were 1 st runners-up at Battlehack Singapore. Another
hackathon of particular relevance is UP Singapore's E3 hackathon 2013 in collaboration with IDA, where I
came to know about IDAs Intelligent Energy Systems pilot project. Our project was not only the winner at
the E3 hackathon, but also a finalist at IDA's APPS4SG competition. I have worked on several ideas
involving gamification to promote behavioral change and I am interested in game design as a profession.
While my main areas of expertise are ideation, marketing, UI/UX and graphic design, I am a Computer
Science major and am well versed with most productivity and creative suites and can even do some frontend web development if necessary. Moreover, as the co-founder and current President of 2 student activity
groups - the Yale-NUS Visual Arts Society and the Yale-NUS Hackerspace, known as YNC_Hacks, I have
significant administrative, leadership and logistics experience. Having been part of the ACJC debate team
and Logistics IC, I have helped not only do extensive research for our team's debate cases but also helped
organise national level debate tournaments like the ACJC-MOE Debating Championships.
My extensive experience both organising and competing at a milieu of competitive events along with my
academic and professional interests has trained both my problem-solving and analytical skills as well as my
creative thinking skills, so that I am able to ideate effectively and come up with innovative and interesting
ideas that are technically sophisticated and implementable. Given the opportunity, I would greatly love to
be a part of IDA's vision and mission for a smarter Singapore, and would appreciate the opportunity to
discuss my candidacy with you further. For any additional information, please feel free to contact me at +65
8591 9354 or email me at paragbhtngr@gmail.com.
Yours sincerely,
Parag Bhatnagar
