There you were,

With all the jests and gestures,
That made you you.
Like whirling in a park, eyes up,
Tree crowns spinning
round and round;
The dizziness of my rapture infinite.
There you were,
All endearment and passion,
Involving me in steams of reveries,
With your tenderness and intensity,
That made me me.
And then you went lost.
Lost
Lost in the whirlwind of my life,
In the jumble of my yearnings.
In that foggy past,
Where you became the shadows,
Of memories and wishful thinking.
Lost in a ghastly distance
That I had to interpose.
There you are now,
So close to my chimera,
I cannot reach out,
I squint and cannot see.
Because the ocean that separates us,
Will never reunite us.
The love that binds us,
Will forever fragment us,
In this arid remoteness
Of my anguished nostalgia.
