XCC Special Session Meeting Minutes, 01-28-10, Page 6 meeting, he told Ms. Simpson that Xenia needed to be on that list. If any city should be a bicycle friendly city, it should be Xenia, Mr. Percival said if you Google “Xenia, bicycles” there are many stories about people who came from other states and communities to ride on Xenia bike trails, of which 90% were positive stories. Vice President Mills asked if Xenia advertised in any bicycling magazines. Councilman Miller said Xenia does not advertise in any magazines. Mr. Percival said that was not true. Vice President Mills realized advertising takes money, but that is an opportunity to get our name out ona larger scale. Mr. Percival agreed. Sometimes the articles are reprinted in those magazines. Xenia is still highly thought of as a city with great bike trails. Vice President Mills said it is not that she does not want business because she does want factories, etc. When the Dayton Daily News did an article on Homemade Uniques, a Xenia business, it was not mentioned by anyone but her. The Xenia Gazette did not run an article nor did the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce have anything on their website about the store, Did the city’s website have anything about Homemade Uniques? She thought they miss opportunities. Don’t overlook the small things because it takes the small things to build the big things. Mr. Percival agreed. Role of Survey Research: Respondents were asked if they believe the city should conduct regular surveys to assess the quality of customer service, citizen perception on community issues, and to identify citizen needs and desires with respect to service delivery; 89.3% of respondents indicated that similar surveys should be conducted in the future. *+ A like percentage (89.3%) indicated that surveys such as this one should be used to help identify Council priorities and as a guide for future resource allocations. Mr. Percival thought the above results may be a bit skewed because if you are going to spend 10 to 15 minutes on the phone participating in the survey, you will say what you just did was important, and 90% of the people did say that.
