ELECTR 155 - Electronic Drawing and Assembly

ePortfolio Outline of Requirements

by Nita Leighton for Spring 2016
Student to complete
Use the following names for the folders, and sub-folders as specified in this document, and then add the
different assignments to these folders.
If a student has corrections that must be made to any assignment handed back, then the work must be
resubmitted for an updated score, within two weeks of the assignment being first handed back.
Once an assignment is complete, it will go into a completed folder for that month of the class.
ePortfolios will receive a cursory check, to make sure all students are progressing at a reasonable pace,
once each month. It is up to the each student to check in with the instructor regularly. So, always have
your flash-drives with you, at each class, and available for collection. The flash-drives are necessary for
saving your work, because all college computers have "DEEP-FREEZE" installed on them. That means
that they will erase all your work after being shut-down. So, you will ABSOLUTELY need to remember
to SAVE ALL of your WORK, or risk losing it, thus having to repeat the assignment again, so that you can
then save your work before shutting down, as you should have done. The following may not all be step
by step details. Remember to put your name on your flash drive in case you leave it in the classroom.
INITIAL LAB PROJECTS (or depending on schedules and equipment availability)
Introduction to soldering with ELENCO SP-1A Kit (using all through-hole components)
Leave the component leads long for de-soldering later in the semester
Surface Mount Resistor, PCB kit assembly -- We will supply the materials of a 1206 resistor
Required in main ePortfolio, until assembled in final version

1. Table of Contents (ToC) of this electronic portfolio; this ToC will continue to evolve
throughout the class, as assignments are added. So, KEEP UPDATING IT, AS YOU
TURN IN YOUR PORTFOLIO, and remember to Title folders EXACTLY as on this
sheet, and in the PowerPoint on ePortfolios

6. Now, switch and design the same Figure 40-2 in Multisim for a new schematic. Then, save

the file in your portfolio folder, on your flash-drive.

7. To begin, you will have to select the components out of the Multisim library first
8. Remember to add your personal title block for identification of this drawing
9. Create a Node-layout of this Figure 40-2 circuit in MultiSim from the original node list, by
changing the wire colors. Then, save the file in your portfolio folder, on your

flash-drive.
Now, take the same original Node list for the 40-2 circuit and use it to wire Challenges 1 & 2.
DO NOT CREATE A NEW NODE LIST.
10.

Component Challenge 1 rewire Figure 40-2 in Multisim using your Node layout
and listing information above. DO NOT change the colors used in the original
selections from above. Then, simulate new circuit to see if it works and show
instructor. Then, save the file in your ePortfolio folder, on your flash-drive.

11.

Component Challenge 2 rewire Figure 40-2 in Multisim using your Node layout
and listing information above. DO NOT change the colors used in the original
selections from above. Then, simulate new circuit to see if it works and show
instructor. Then, save the file in your ePortfolio folder, on your flash-drive.

12. Reminder, document all work you have done by saving it into your ePortfolio on your
flash-drive
13. Submit the completed folder to your instructor & also save into your ePortfolio sub
folder 6
Neatness counts on ALL these assignments
Folder 7 741 Relay Voltage Comparator (RVC) Project (on 2 slides) -- due by week 9
1. Create a Node-layout of this RVC circuit given to you on paper. Then, save the file in
your portfolio folder, on your flash-drive.
3

2. Create a Node-Listing of this RVC circuit. Then, save the file in your portfolio folder, on
your flash-drive.
3. Transfer RVC schematic drawing from paper into Multisim, but first you must select
the required components out of the Multisim library
4. Select the exact components specified on the schematic, or the circuit may not
function
5. Remember to add your personal title block for identification of drawing
6. Redo hand Node-layout in Multisim from same Node-list. Then, save the file in your
portfolio folder, on your flash-drive.
Now, take the same original Node list for the RVC circuit and use it to wire Challenges 3 & 4.
DO NOT CREATE A NEW NODE LIST.
7. Challenge 3 Connect the rearranged components without changing their positions on this
page, using your Node-listing as a guide.

8. Then, simulate it in Multisim, to show instructor that it works, when light bulb
flashes show the Instructor. Then, save the file in your portfolio folder, on your
flash-drive.
9. Challenge 4 Connect the rearranged components without changing their positions
on this page, using your Node-listing as a guide
10. Then, simulate it in Multisim, to show instructor that it works, when light bulb
