Equipment and Set-up for Lesson:32 students
Equipment: Stop watches for some activities, Cards stating the duration and or repetitions of
the various exercises used. Adequate space, which could be a grassy field or basketball
court, etc.

Set-up:

Risk Management Concerns:

1. Make sure that students are maintaining personal space inside the general space.
Make sure that students know to stay an arms length away from all other students at
all times.
2. Make sure that students have a prior knowledge of how to perform each given task.
3. Remind students that it is not a race and if you are feeling tired taking a break is OK.
Lesson Preview:
1. Introduction (sequence)
Discuss why physical activity is important in everyday life and the health risks and
benefits of exercising
Pros
Longer life
Increased blood flow
Overall wellness
Weight control
Strengthening muscles and joints
Cons

Increased risk for heart disease

Shorter life
Limited mobility

2. Review (objectives)

Students will be able to recall the actions the perform the exercise from memory
(cognitive)

Students will be able maintain personal space while being in the general space of the
gym(affective)

Students will be able to complete each of the prizes that are picked when the door
opens in the game show ex: lunges, sit ups, jogging, jumping, planks, grape vine.
(psychomotor)

3. Assessment review

observation.
Students will be assessed maintaining personal space in the general space by peer
observation.
Students will be assessed for performing physical tasks by teacher observation.

4. Hook: Whos ready to make a deal?

Lesson Development:
*The students will (TSW) enter the gym and sit their floor spot Differentiated Instruction
*The instructor will (TIW) greet the students as they go to their
floor spot and grab their heart rate monitor.
(1 min)
Transition :TIW have the students move closer to them in
proximity so that they can hear the directions clearly.
*TIW tell the students that today they will be participants on a
fitness game show called lets make a deal.
*TIW explain the rules for the game show
1. "Let' Make a Deal" is based on the television game
show. The teachers act as the show's host.
2. The students are the contestants and represent the
best interest of the entire class.
3. The "prize" is the exercise or activity the students will
perform.
4. The host picks the contestants.
5. Once the contestant is chosen he or she has five

seconds to pick one of the four doors. When the door is

chosen, a "prize" is revealed.
6. Once the "prize" is announced, all students perform the
exercise or activity that was revealed.
7. Immediately following the conclusion of the exercise, a
new contestant is chosen.
8. Repeat the procedures. Vary the types of "prizes"
behind each door, i.e. strength, endurance, flexibility
and cardiovascular activities.
9. For each "prize" vary the time and reps, i.e. one "prize"
might be skipping for 45 seconds, or jogging for 2
minutes, while the next could be crunches for 30
seconds.
10. The benefit of varying the "prizes" is the contestants
never know what particular body part they will be
working on next. This creates the surprise.
11. Each door contains five prizes. Once a prize is chosen,
it is not available again.
12. To manage each door and "prizes" behind each one, it
is recommended to use small booklets or binders.
13. When the door is chosen, turn the page to reveal the
"prize", when it is chosen again, turn to the next page
revealing the next "prize". If you use a binder, you can
move the "prizes" around easily.
14. Depending upon the time allotted for each class you
may or may not reveal all the prizes. If all of the prizes
behind one door are chosen, that door is closed for the
day
TIW inform the class of safety risks associated with this lesson

feeling tired taking a break is OK.
TIW inform students that they are being assessed on their

the four doors DOOR CARDIO, DOOR ENDURACE, DOOR
FLEXIBILTY, DOOR STRENGTH. TIW tell the students that
they will be filling out an exit slip at the end of class.
TIW tell the students that they are being assessed for
maintaining personal space in the general space by peer
