Itinerary & Sample Day

January 5, 2016
Student meeting at Roycemore School from 10-11 am in Room 233.
We will cover last minute reminders and any questions, concerns, etc.
the students might have.
January 6, 2016 - Day 1 of travel
1:15 pm - Meet at O'Hare International Airport - Terminal 1
4:15 pm - Flight leaves for Frankfurt
January 7, 2016 - Day 2
7:30 am - Arrive in Frankfurt, Take second flight to Rome
12:10 pm - Arrive in Rome
Tour Director picks us up at the airport in our private coach bus.
Visit Ostia Antica including: the Piazzale delle Corporanzioni, the
Ancient Theater, and the Forum. If time permits we will visit the
museum, too.
Hotel in Campania for the next 3 nights. Dinner and breakfast
provided daily at hotel.
January 8, 2016 - Day 3
Pompeii: Roman ruins, Villa of the Mysteries.
Naples: National Archaeological Museum.
Sorrento
January 9, 2016 - Day 4

Amalfi: ride along the coast, ancient ruins at Paestum (Basilica, Doric
temple, Temple of Ceres, Temple of Neptune), National Archaeological
Museum (pieces of the Temple of Hera and tomb paintings).

January 10, 2016 - Day 5

Rome: Gladiator School!! Pantheon and Piazza Navona (dinner),
Hotel in Rome for the next 2 nights. Breakfast provided daily at hotel.
January 11, 2016 - Day 6
Rome: Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, Roman Forum, Vatican City
(Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica included), Trevi Fountain,
Spanish Steps, and a pizza making lesson!
January 12, 2016 - Day 7
Flight from Rome to Athens
Athens: Temple of Olympian Zeus, walking tour through the Monastiraki
(Fethiye Mosque, Tsistaraki Mosque, Roman Agora, Hadrian's Library
and the Tower of the Winds), dinner at a local restaurant.
Hotel in Athens for next 4 nights. Breakfast included daily at the hotel.
January 13, 2016 - Day 8
Athens: Acropolis (Erectheion, Temple of Athena Nike, The Parthenon,
Temple to Athena, museum), Ancient Agora (Hephaisteion, Stoa of
Attalos), and the National Archaeological Museum.
January 14, 2014 - Day 9
Delphi: Mt. Parnassus, Oracle of Delphi, Sacred Way, temple of Apollo,
Sanctuary of Apollo, Doric Temple of Apollo, Delphi Archaeological
Museum, dinner at a local restaurant.

January 15, 2016 - Day 10

Corinth: Acrocorinth, theatre of Epidaurus, Mycenae, fortified Palace
Complex (Lion Gate, Grave Circle A, Royal Palace, Secret Stairway).
Dinner at a local restaurant. Traditional Greek line dancing and a show
at a Greek taverna!

January 16, 2016 - Day 11

3:55 am - Check in at Athens airport
6:55 am - Flight leaves Athens for Frankfurt
9:05 am - Arrive in Frankfurt
10:40 am - Flight leaves Frankfurt for Chicago
1:10 pm - Arrive in Chicago at O'Hare International Airport
***All parents/guardians must pick up their child(ren) at O'Hare
International Airport or arrange other transportation.

Sightseeing Day:
6:45 am - Wake up call
7:15 am - Breakfast as a group at hotel
9 am - Meet bus and guide for guided tour of Athens
10 am - Explore Acropolis
12:30 pm - Lunch (on own)
2 pm - Walking tour with Tour Director of Ancient Agora
4 pm - Free time (groups of 3+)
6:30 pm - Dinner with group

8 pm - Free time (groups of 3+)

9 pm - Curfew - Journal Writing!
10 pm - Bed check
Travel Day:
6:15 am - Wake up call
6:45 am - Breakfast as a group
10 am - Depart Rome
1 pm - Arrive in Athens
3:30 pm - Visit Temple of Zeus, Walking Tour
6:30 pm - Dinner as a group at local restaurant
8 pm - Free time (groups of 3+)

10 pm - Bed check
