Box 30036 Lansing, MI 48909-7536 Dear Senator MacGregor: Itmay have come to your attention that WZZM Channel 13 recently reported allegations regarding both short-staffing and mandatory 16-hour staff shifts that occur regularly at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, This raises serious concems about the quality and safety of care that we are providing for our heroes. As a veteran myself, I am appalled at the alleged behavior demonstrated by the private contractor and Grand Rapids Home for ‘Veterans staff that have allowed this to happen. [believe this is a significant issue of importance which merits the attention of the Oversight Committee. As chairman of the Senate Oversight Committee, I thoughtfully request you to charge the committee with investigating the potential misuse of state funding and/or state governmental entities that are derelict in their duties to the taxpayers of Michigan. I would tend to think that we both agree the state should be spending taxpayers” dollars wisely. At this time, write to request that you hold hearings through the Senate Oversight ‘Committee so we can assure the citizens of Michigan that quality healthcare and services will prevail for those wio fought for our freedom.
