FACTS
Domestic violence is considered

one of the most pressing issues


in American society.
Male victims of domestic

violence are more likely to be


attacked with a deadly weapon.
Men who suffer domestic

violence can only receive help if


they break the silence.

Domestic violence is

learned and when


children and adults are
exposed it can occur in
the families and
throughout society.
Children who are exposed

to domestic violence are


more likely to be involved
in abusive relationships
as an adult.

STATISTICS
1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical

abuse by an intimate partner in their lifetime.


1 in 18 men have been stalked by an intimate partner
during their lifetime to the extent in which they feared
they were in danger.
In a 2010 survey taken by the CDC it was found that
40% of the victims of severe, physical domestic violence
were men.

PREVENTIONS
Ways Everyone Can Help Prevent Domestic

Violence
Be a knowledgeable source of information about domestic violence
services in your community.
Believe that domestic violence is unacceptable and say it out loud.
Do not laugh at sexist jokes.
Call 911 when witnessing, visually or auditory, an abusive situation.
Talk to your family and friends about ways you can help end domestic
violence.
Teach boys and girls about respect.
Model the behavior you expect in society.
