1. Cholera is an epidemic disease that has killed millions of people and
results in (EXPLAIN some of the symptoms of the disease and what causes
an infected person to die)...
Symptoms:
Vague feeling of fullness in the abdomen
Loss of appetite
Victim becomes giddy
Hands and feet become cold and clammy
Excruciating cramps seize the victims limbs and abdomen
Cause of deaths:
Victims of cholera die of dehydration within hours or after several
agonizing days

2. In order to eliminate cholera, it was necessary to identify (write down

the problem that was identified and SUMMARIZE the gathering of information
that was completed)...
Problem:
What is the cause of cholera?
Gathering of information:
To gather information we read an article about the cholera disease and
wrote down any information we found about possible causes and symptoms of the
disease.

3.
After viewing the cholera stool and seeing (DESCRIBE what was
observed and your hypothesis)...

Hypothesis:
If the cholera stool has brown clumps and the healthy stool does not,
then brown clumps is the cause of cholera.
Cholera Stool:
Looks like tiny particles
Has orange & gray dots
Healthy Stool:
Has brown spots
More crowded than the cholera stool
Orange dots

4. In order to test the hypothesis (SUMMARIZE the test set-up and

procedure)...
Experimental Group: Cholera stool
Control Group: Healthy stool
Procedure:
1. View both samples under the microscope
2. Record observations about each stool and draw a picture
3. Compare your observations and pictures of the cholera stool to the
healthy stool

5. As each stool sample was analyzed, it was observed (SUMMARIZE what

was seen in each sample, but DO NOT draw any conclusions)...

The healthy stool had bigger clumps then the cholera stool
The cholera stool was more spread out and less crowded than the
healthy stool

6. After viewing and comparing both stool samples, it was determined

that the hypothesis was correct or incorrect (EXPLAIN whether your
hypothesis was correct or incorrect. Be sure to discuss how the results proved
the hypothesis was correct or incorrect. BE SPECIFIC!)...
My hypothesis was incorrect because I thought that the cause of cholera
would be the brown clumps, but it was the grey dots.

7. Although the cause of cholera was determined, there could have

been errors (THINK of 2 possible errors in the completion of this investigation &
how they could affect the results)...
1. We might have not gotten a good drop of one or both stools onto are
slides when making them.
2. We could have mixed up the cholera and healthy stool
If these errors were to occur then this could affect our results by leading us
into getting a wrong conclusion.

8. Now that the cause of cholera has been determined to be the grey
dots, it is necessary to (Usually one scientific investigation leads to another.
DESCRIBE the next thing that could be investigated related to cholera).
The next thing that could be investigated is how to cure cholera.

9. CONCLUSION
Grey dots is the cause of cholera because they are found/seen in the cholera
stool, but not in the healthy stool.
