Who Inspires Me?


Ronald Reagan

Early Life
Ronald Reagan was born and raised in the small town of Tampico, Illinois with his parents
Nelle Clyde Wilson and John Edward Reagan. Reagan grew up in a very poor family where
he was not given very many opportunities. One of the things that kept him going when he
was younger was his faith. Reagan was baptized into the Disciples of Christ Church when he
was around 10 years old. He grew up going to the College of Eureka and in the year of 1932
Reagan moved to Hollywood to pursue his dream of acting. He starred in a couple major
films though soon after that he became a motivational speaker for the company General
Electric.

Political Life
Ronald Reagan had always been a lifelong liberal, though around 1962 he switched to the
Republican Party. Reagan also became the Governor of California due to his speech, A
Time For Choosing, which led to national attention. He was elected the oldest president of
The United States in 1980, after he had previously failed twice while running for the
Republican nominations. While in office Reagan did wondrous things, especially regarding
our military and armed forces. After WW2 was over the Cold War still continued, until
Reagan came up with a plan to stop it. Regan was in office from 1981-1989. Just 61 days
into his presidency Ronald was shot by John Hinckley Jr while he was leaving a speaking
engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C. Him and three other were
shot , though no deaths just injuries. Reagan was shot in the chest where he suffered from
a punctured lung and lots of internal bleeding, though luckily he was able to have a fast
recovery. During his presidency it is known that he was the one who rebuilt our military to
become the most powerful in the world.

How Ronald Inspires Me


Ronald Reagan was the one who gave our country a boost of confidence when we were in a
time of need. He inspired thousands of people during a hard time in American history
which is the reason we still prevail. He kept going through all of the destruction when
America really needed help. He was the one to put an end to Cold war and to build up our
government and our government. Some things he did was the federal income tax from 70%
to 28%, he also set up the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) was a proposed missile defense
system intended to protect the United States from attack by ballistic strategic nuclear
weapons. Reagans legacy will never be forgotten and he will go down in history as one of
the greatest leader and president in U.S. history. f f f f f f f f f f f f f f
