Careers that Need a Masters Degree

Introduction

There are a number of careers that

need a masters degree, but the two I
have chosen to discuss are:
Social Worker
School Administrator

Description
Social Worker

Helps people solve and cope with

problems in their everyday lives
One group of social workers,
clinical social workers, also
diagnose and treat mental,
behavioral, and emotional issues
May work with children, people
with disabilities, and people with
serious illnesses and addictions;
varies based on the type of client
they are working with

School Administrator

Responsible for managing all school

operations
Manages daily school activities, coordinate
curricula, and oversee teachers and other
school staff to provide a safe environment
for students
Oversee academic goals and ensure that
teachers have the right tools to meet these
goals
Implement standards and programs that are
set by the district
Evaluate and prepare reports on schools
performance
Duties vary by the size of the school

Experience Required
Social Worker
Two years of post-master
experience in a
supervised clinical setting
Must also be licensed in
most states in which they
practice
All programs require
students to complete
supervised practicum or
an internship

School Administrator

Most schools require principals to have

a masters degree in education
administration or leadership
Most schools require that principals
have work experience as teachers
Most states require that public school
administrators be licensed
Some require candidates to pass a
test and take continuing education
classes to maintain their license
Must pass a background check
