Dr. Kenell Touryan, who retired as

Deputy Director of the National
Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in
Golden, Colorado, presents points of
harmony between science and the theistic
worldview during international seminars
and training sessions. On Monday
evening, October 12, 2015, he spoke at
the Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
During his years as Deputy Director of the
NREL, he managed U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE) projects in countries of the
Former Soviet Union (FSU). The DOE
projects were a three-way collaboration
between NREL, U.S. industries, and
various scientific and technical institutes
in these countries. These projects redirected efforts of FSU engineers and
scientists toward commercial activities
after they had developed and maintained
weapons of mass destruction.
He holds a number of patents for his work
in photovoltaics and has published more
than ninety papers in scientific journals.
After retiring from NREL, Ken served as
Vice President for Research and
Development at the American University
of Armenia in Yerevan, Armenia, for seven
years. He also served on the Board of the
Polytechnic Institute of Armenia.
Dr. Touryan received his Ph.D. in
Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences from
Princeton University with a minor in
Physics. He is a Fellow of the American
Scientific Affiliation (ASA), which is a
network of Christians in the sciences. He
served as President of the ASA Council
from 2003-04.

Touryan is also a member of several professional societies. He received many awards for his work in energy
technologies, including the prestigious award for energy research from the American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics.

Colorado Republican Party, publicly thanked Gregory Perez on Facebook for inviting his wife, Maryann, and
him to the lecture by Dr. Touryan at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. His post and my follow-through

Mark Baisley is also a security and intelligence professional, astrogeek, and columnist for Townhall.com.
During February 2015, Mr. Baisley wrote two articles in a series published on Townhall.com about science,
intelligent life, and design. He wrote that science shows our presence on Earth is unique and purposeful that is
worthy of the adventure. He went on to write the Declaration of Independence of 1776 brought us closerto
