Assignments
Case Studies
The student will answer the questions for case studies assigned in the Course
Schedule for the week assigned. Identification of the question being answered
must be clearly noted. APA formatting should be used along with a cover page as
the example at the end of this syllabus. Bullets with short sentences for answers
are acceptable, but complete sentences and thoughts are required. If the
question has more than one question within it, identify the sub-questions
alphabetically (1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d, etc.). Case studies will be submitted via the
blackboard tool on the due date indicated.
Maxwell Leadership Bible Devotional Essays
You will be assigned two leadership devotionals from John Maxwells Leadership
Bible. You will complete a one-page (minimum) summary of the devotional and
its application to international business. You may cite other scripture in support
of your responses.
Oral Debates
On the first day of class, each student will be placed on a debate team for the
duration of the term. Debates will be held as scheduled unless there is a conflict,
which requires the change of date, at the professors discretion. Each team will
draw from a list of approved debate topics as well as a date. Each team must
prepare either a pro or con debate, and you will know ahead of time which side
you will be arguing. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL STUDENTS ON
DEBATE DAYS. If you are absent on the day of a debate for which your team is
responsible for presenting, you will receive a zero- no exceptions. If you are
absent and your team is not presenting, you will lose 20 points from your debate
participation grade for each debate day that you miss. Debate day guidelines
and instructions will be provided the first day of class.
Debating students are also required to submit a paper summarizing the debate
issues, both affirmative and negative, outlining the specific ethical issues, and
describing their personal point of view about the topic. Papers must be 2-3
pages long and should be followed by a list of references used to support their
work.
Additionally, an annotated bibliography must be submitted to the professor by
each team member that will contain a correct APA formatted list of each source
that the team may reference during a debate.

Since the various assignments in this class do not always have 100 points possible, the
letter grade for each assignment can be calculated using percentages, just as the final
grade for the course will be calculated. For example, if an assignment has a total point
value of 50 points and the point award is 41 points, 41 50 = 82%, then the letter
grade is B-. For the final course grade, the same methodology will be used. If 972 of
1040 points are earned, the letter grade will be A (972 1070 = 93.5%).
