about adding the creepy carrot and show the whole exemplar.
Check for Understanding: Ask students- Do you have to draw a creepy forest?

Does your carrot have to look like mine? NO! Could you have a fat carrot? YES!
Could your carrots have teeth? YES! Could they be toothless? YES!
Closure: Who can tell me what our Principle of Design was today? EMPHASIS

State Objectives: Today were going to use white crayons to draw a creepy
place on black paper. Then well cut out carrots and add creepy carrot face with
cut paper.
Demonstrate: Demonstrate drawing with white crayon on black paper. Draw a
carrot shape on the orange construction paper and cut it out. Draw a carrot top on
the green scraps and cut it out. Glue the two pieces down to the black paper. Cut
out eyes and mouth and glue them to the carrot. After everything is glued down,
use the black crayon to add lines to your carrot.
Check for Understanding: What do we do first? Put name on back of paper (First

mouth glue down.
Guided Practice: Using white crayon on 9x12 black paper, draw a creepy
place. Next, using pencil, draw a carrot on the 6x9 orange paper. Cut out the
carrot shape. Using pencil, draw a carrot top on the green paper scrap and cut it
out. Glue the carrot top to the back of the carrot; glue both down to the black paper.
Cut out eyes and a mouth from the black and white paper scraps. You may draw
them first if you wish. Your eyes should have a large white circle with a smaller
black pupil in it. The mouth should be cut out of black paper, you may add white
teeth if you like. Glue all facial features to the carrot. After everything is glued
down use the black crayon to add lines to your carrot.
Closure: When finished put the scissors, glue stick, crayons, and pencil back in the
appropriate boxes. Place your Creepy Carrot artwork on the drying rack. Throw
