Time
5 mins

Students will be introduced to topic and learning goals: To discuss how

exercise and diet affects body systems (positively and negatively).
Students prior knowledge on body systems will be elicited. Students will
be asked what they know about body systems, and what are the body
systems that they have learnt about in previous years.
Explain

10 min

Introduce body systems (digestive, respiratory, immune, muscular,

skeletal, lymphatic, endocrine, and central nervous system) and the role
of each body systems.
Introduce how exercise and diet affects each of the body system.
Introduce how regular exercise and a balanced diet has positive effects
on the various body systems.
Evaluate, Analyse

Explore
The class is divided into groups of three students each group.
Working in their groups, students will explore one of the following issues,
in relation to its effect on some body systems:
o Lack of exercise
o Too much exercise
o Under-eating
o Over-eating

15 mins

They will present their ideas in the form of a leaflet.

Create, Analyse

Elaborate
Students will conclude their group discussions and present their ideas to
the rest of the class.

10 mins

Evaluate, Analyse

Evaluate

7 mins

Teachers support student development through performance for

understanding.
Students are given feedback from the teacher if necessary.
Check for evidence of learning against learning goals.
Conclusion of Lesson
Students reflect on their own learning progress.
Students are asked to reflect on the learning process and mention what
they found difficult and what they would like to be reviewed in a future
lesson.
