Youth Pledge the congress adopted three ideals, which was fatherland,
Indonesia one nation, and one language that was Bahasa Indonesia.
According to many of scholars such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the most
important function of the general will is to inform the creation of the laws of the
state. Rousseau describes the ideal form of this social contract and also
explained its philosophical underpinnings. To Rousseau, the collective grouping
of all people who by their consent enter into a civil society is called the
sovereign. Rousseau writes this government may take different forms, including
monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy, according to the size characteristics of
the state (sparknotes.com). According to Rousseau the state is in no wise an
immediate product of nature. Unlike society, it does not precede of reason in
men. The liberals say that the first state was created by the free and rational will
of men; the men of the right consider it the work of God. In either case it
dominates society and tends to absorb it completely. (Marxist.org). From this
quote it represents as control nature. From these points from JJ Rousseau gives
the formation of state.
In conclusion, I think Indonesia is considered as nation state, because
Indonesia has a government in a territory by itself, ruled under one government,
governments make laws and talk to other sovereign states, the territory, political, etc.
are independent, governments make laws and talk to other sovereign states, and the
territory, political, etc. are independent. These are the examples to prove Indonesia is
nation state in the points of nation side and state side.
