Inform Master
Inform E/R
Prepare engines for manoeuvring and reduce speed
Fix vessels position by all available means
Change speed input to Speed Over Ground (SOG)
Notify DPA
Other actions:
Change over to secondary Speed sensor, GPS or other continuous position
system if available.
If such system is not available or reliable, operate the system in DR or EP
mode
Enter the course manually from Magnetic Compass.
Update the speed based on observed distances.

During the critical operation, if an unexpected event occurs, stop the job, review the controls and the
risk assessment and resume the job only when deemed safe to do so.
