Dear Principal Anderson,
My name is Ms. Ashlee Britting and my objective is to be a Senior Language Arts teacher with
your wonderful community. I received my bachelors degree in Secondary English Education at
Arizona State University and I have my minor in photojournalism from Northern Arizona
University. I have interned across the valley at Sonoran Science Academy, Metro Tech High and
Pinnacle High, all locations which have bettered my understanding of the secondary environment
as well as who I am as an educator. I thoroughly enjoy literature in all of its forms and I love
teaching it as well!
A unique factor about myself is that I am a firm believer in team work as well as individual
work, so in my practice, there will be a mixture of the two. My goal as a teacher is to teach with
respect, consistency and creativity to give all students the equal and best possible outcome in
their education. I expect the same in return from my students and their parents. I truly appreciate
all communication whether it be compliments, concerns, challenges or questions! The students
needs are my priority.
My syllabus, attached, is filled with many challenging and unique assignments for the students to
experience and for you to watch them grow. In my class there will be a lot of technology
incorporation with the assignments. The ultimate goal of my class is to teach students how to
think critically, skillfully and uniquely using all forms of language. I want them digging for
answers to questions they have created about text and beyond, and I am here to help along the
way!
I am very excited to hear from you about this opportunity to teach and grow in your community!
Thank you for taking the time to consider my experience. Feel free to contact me via phone or
email, AshleyBritting@yahoo.com, with ANY sort or comments or questions. I will reach out to
you early next week in regards to your feedback.
Best,
Ashlee Britting

Mr. and Mrs. Maza

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Maza,
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this letter! Your son, Tylar is a very dedicated
student. I enjoy his comments in class discussions and so do the students! He is quite the
comedian!
One challenge Tylar and I continue to come across in class is that he remains doodling on his
desk while he listens to presentations/lectures/completes a test. I understand there may be times
where this can help him stay focused, however this can be distracting to the students around him,
as well as myself. One suggestion I had for this challenge was that I could provide scratch paper
for him to use during his downtime in class, which is rather limited. I completely understand that
everyone learns differently, and while his grades have not been affected recently, I would like his
full attention and participation in class to ensure they do not deteriorate in the future. This is why
I would love to find a better solution to his doodling/drawing!
Our class rules are posted on the wall as well as located in the syllabus which states we will
respect all property on campus. I have had three discussions with Tylar about his drawing on the
desks. He was very nice and responsive verbally, however once again, he was drawing on the
desk today after he finished his test. Unfortunately, if Tylar doesnt stop, his doodling will result
in being written up for vandalism, which, if repeated, could ultimately result in a suspension. I
dont want him getting in trouble at all, so I would love any suggestions on how to cease his
behavior.
Please let me know what you think about the scratch paper idea, or if you have one of your own!
You can reach me by phone at 480-239-5886 or by email at AshleyBritting@yahoo.com. As I
said, Tylar is a wonderful student and I know we can come to a solution that works for everyone!
Best,
Ashlee Britting
