6.1 Steel Plate cut from existing pipe off cuts (Same Diameter)
6.2 E7018 Welding Rods

7.0 Cathodic Protection Plates

7.1 To allow the Fire Water Lines to Progress prior to the Thermit Welding of the Cathodic
Protection Cables, NSH propose to weld a 100 x 100 mm plate, (from pipe off cut) to the Fire
Water Line Pipe, at the positions were Thermit Welding for the Cathodic Protection Cables is
required.
7.2 The areas were the Cathodic Protection Plates are required are detailed on the construction
drawings, and these areas will be identified and marked on the pipe, out on site.

7.3 The areas will be prepared in the following manner: 1)

The bitumen Protective Coating will be removed from the marked up area.

2)

The area will be cleaned to remove any traces of oil and grease.

3)

An angle grinder will be used to prepare the surface of the carbon steel pipe for welding.

7.4 Using a qualified welder, NSH will then weld the 100 x 100mm Plate into position, using a 6mm
C.F.W.
7.5 The weld will be subjected to Visual Inspection and PT Inspection. The reports/certificates will
be recorded in the test package.
