AtCDS,wehaveavarietyofwaysofreportingstudentachievementtoyou:

,andmeetingwithparentsbothinformallyandformally.

Whatistheportfolioandwhyisitimportant:
ThePortfolioisapositive,dynamic,
ongoingassessmentthataidsinstimulatingthinkingandpromotingstudent
independence.Itcelebratesindividuallearningstylesanddocumentswhatthe
student
can
do.
Theteacherandstudentbecomeacollaborativeteamintheevaluation
process.Whenstudentsmaintainaselectionoftheirworkovertime,theylearn
toassesstheirownprogressaslearnersandbecomemoreactivelyinvolvedin
thewholeprocessoflearning.Theyrealizelearningissomethingtheycan
participate
in

Profiles for Technology Literate Students

AmajorcomponentoftheCDSeducationprogramisdevelopingtechnologyliterate
students.Inordertotrackthisprogresswehavedevelopedageneralsetofprofiles
describingtechnologyliteratestudentsatkeydevelopmentalpointsintheirprecollege
education.TheseprofilesarebasedonCDSsbeliefthatallstudentsmusthaveregular
opportunitiestodevelopskillsthatencouragepersonalproductivity,creativity,critical
thinkingandcollaborationintheclassroomanddailylife.Coupledwiththetechnology
standards,theprofilesprovideasetofexamplesforpreparingstudentstobelifelong
learnersandcontributingmembersofaglobalsociety.
