Plot: The story follows a young girl who is very adventurous and loves to portray different characters and
creatures. There is a play and grace would love to star as the lead role of Peter Pan. Some of her
classmates tell her she cannot be peter pan because she is a girl and she is black. But with advice from her
mother and grandmother she tries out for the role anyway and gets the part.
Setting: In school, a house, and a small community.
Theme: Never let anyone tell you what you can and cant do.

Characterization: The main character is multidimensional the supporting characters are one dimensional.

Style: This book is a great picture book and tells a very interesting story with sentence variations.

Point of View: Narrator

An uplifting story that shows we can be anything that we want to be. It subtly tackles controversial issues
such as sexism and racism without it offending any of its readers.
