Police opt not to use special dog in search

for Ann Gotlib
Jefferson County police have decided not to use a special dog to search a part of Fort
Knox for the body of a girl who disappeared from a suburban mall more than a decade
ago.

Last month, the parents of Ann Gotlib said they believe their daughter may be buried at
the military post, because Texas death row inmate Michael Lockhart has told them he
killed the girl and buried her there while he was a soldier stationed in Kentucky. Lockhart
sent the Gotlibs a map, and Jefferson County officers went to Fort Knox to investigate.
But Officer Dave Beach said the map did not match any area at Fort Knox, and police
decided not to use any of their dogs or a special dog the Gotlibs had requested be given
access to the area.
