Long Bay Symphony
Presents ‘Late Romantics’
By Carolyn Pittman
The 2009-2010 Season featuring Music for All
Time, ends with the final performance on Sunday,
March 14 at 4 p.m. — Late Romantics.
‘The Romantic Period, initially inspired by the
dramatic power of Beethoven’s music, gradually
developed its own greater depth of emotion and
more brilliant orchestral palette. Richard Wagner’s
majestic Die Meisiersinger Overture, Guiseppe
Verde’s somber Stabat Mater and Anton
Bruckner’s joyous Psalm 150 (both featuring the
Carolina Master Chorale), plus the epic Symphony
No, 5 of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky combine to make
this program an exciting showcase of the mature
Romantic spirit
Time: 4 p.m, — pre-concert talk by Maestro
Charles Jones Evans at 3:15
Place: Myrtle Beach High School Music and
Arts Center ~ 3302 Grissom Parkway
