SEAMS

SS SUPERIMPOSED SEAMS
Superimposing fabric plies or stacking them on top
of one another with the edges even and sewing
them together near the edge.

LS LAPPED SEAMS
Made by overlapping the seam allowances of 2 or
more fabric plies and sewing them together with
the fabric plies extending in opposite directions. The
most common type is the flat fell seam.

BS BOUND SEAMS
Made by using fabric binding strips to encase raw
edges. Binding may be secured by stitching in the
ditch which makes seams invisible.

FS FLAT SEAMS
Join fabric plies whose raw or folded edges are
abutted or lapped and sewn together.

EF EDGE FINISH
Finish raw or cut edges of a garment seams, hems,
and others.

STITCHES

100 STITCH
Single thread chainstitch made with only a needle
thread and no underthread.

200 STITCH
Single thread hand sewn stitches using only one
needle thread.

300 STITCH
Two or more thread lock stitches using needle
threads and one bobbin hook thread.

400 STITCH
Multi-thread chain stitches using one or more
needle threads and one or more looper threads.

500 STITCH
Multi-thread over edge chainstitches using needle
threads and looper threads.

600 STITCH
Multi-thread coverstitches.
