DAILY JOURNAL
One-two paragraph reflection on the day. What went well, what did you learn today, what could you have done
better, What do you want to make sure you do not forget.

Monday
Today I taught volleyball skills with a focus on passing. I made use of the students floor
spaces and having them work in their floor spaces alone, and then has students use
partners. One thing that I had to deal with today was students who did not want =\to
participate. They wanted to play basketball instead of volleyball. I explained to them that it
was very important to learn a wide variety of skills
Tuesday
Continued working on volleyball skills and taught the same lesson as yesterday, becaue there
are no repeat classes. The day went really well, and flowed a lot better especially since I had
taught the same lesson yesterday.
Wednesday
No school. Religious Holiday
Thursday
It was an interesting day today. I had a few new AI students that came in with their class.
These students were low functioning and it was hard to have them work with their class. One
student imparticular came in with his para, and because he had never been in the gym before
screamed the entire time. It is very hard to teach anything when you have a student
screaming the whole time.
Friday
Today I continued working on volleyball skills passing. I had a student in kindergarten who
was a behavior problem. She did not want to listen as was running around the gym with her
balloon. She continued to make poor choices and I talked to her about her behaviors and
making good choices. I had her continue with her class until she hit another student in the
face with her balloon. I asked her for her balloon and she threw it at me. I has her sit out and
she threw a temper tantrum.

End of the Week Reflection

Write this over the weekend. One or two paragraphs per question. This will help you prepare for the new week.

1. Did you achieve your personal teaching improvement objectives for the week?
How do you know? Review what you wrote last week. Question 4
Some personal objectives that I have for next week are to:
1.
I would really like learn more about the students and who they are (likes,
dislikes, and interests).

I feel that I accomplished this goal. I talked to a lot more students and learned
more about them like what they like to do outside of school. I have a lot of
students the play soccer and basketball.
2.
I would like to learn more students names.
I really worked hard on this goal and think that I have learned quite a few more.
If I dont know a students name I make sure that I ask, and try to use different
students as my examples.
2. What challenges did you face this week? How did you deal with them and what
did you learn from them?
I had to deal with the kindergartener on Friday who did not want to follow the
rules. I had her sit out and she cried, and threw a temper tantrum. However, I
knew that she was fine and let her sit out until she was ready and calm. I also,
had the student who screamed the whole class. I continued to teach on,
because I knew he wasnt going to stop. Most of the class seemed very used to
his behavior and ignored him.
3. What will your points of emphasis be for your students next week?
Next week my points of emphasis for my students will be to continue working
on volleyball passing and to start working on setting. I will continue to
emphasize the rules of the classroom: dont talk when the teacher is talking,
sitting in the listening position, and keeping our hands to ourselves.
4. What are your personal teaching improvement objectives for next week? No
more than three
Some personal objectives that I have for next week are to:
1. Do well on my observation. =]
2. Continue to make personal connections with the students.
